Hi there-- I am new to the Asiana forum. In Nov, My partner and I will be flying Asiana LAX-ICN-HKG BKK-ICN-LAX. Some of the 744 segments are now showing the new first class product. Has anyone flown the new F configuration? Since most seats are singles, how is the layout for flying with someone? (We are currently in 2A and 2K as the row1 was blocked) Any thoughts on the one set of seats in the middle? (From the pics, seem cramped)

Any thoughts, guidance and opinions always welcome! We are looking forward to the great service that everyone has previously discussed.

Welcome to flyertalk Itrw

Unfortunately I havent flown their new F product hence wouldnt be able to give feedback. I have a flight coming up in April from ICN to LAX however it's using the older F config on a 744. Where (which web-site) are you seeing the new layouts and your feedback that the seats are cramped?

Cheers.

Cant seem to paste picture here.

Goto inflight service and choose First class.
Only the korean language contains the picture of new F. English site does not have it. The New F looks similar to KE F class with asiana color. Quite nice.

Here is a picture of the new F cabin

Have also seen similar photos taken from similar angle.

I haven't seen an actual seat map, and realize the photos may not be to scale--looking for someone who has actually been in it :) .

Appears that some of the LAX flights are now selling with the new configuration.

I realize the scope in the pic may be off--

BTW, some of the LAX-ICN flights have changed to the new cabin recently--might want to check with reservations.

According to their website, they have only 2 B744. Am I right to say that it is 99% certain to get the new F on their B744 (LAX-ICN) if I am flying with them in October. :) Thank you!

PS: I am flying in their B74E for ICN-HKG...does that have F or just C?

Following is what I see for late May travel in F-class between LAX-ICN:

LAX-ICN
Sun-747-new
Mon-74M-old
Tue-747-new
Wed-747-new
Thu-74M-old
Fri-747-new
Sat=747-new

As for Oct (picked Oct 3rd as an example) travel between ICN-HKG, there are 2 flights/day on OZ as follows:

OZ 721 9:05dep = 747 = F Class
OZ 723 19:45dep = 74E = No F Class, Only C and Y

Cheers.

Thanks!! I am on OZ 723 (but I am not that concerned about that flight, but rather my trans-Pac flight). I am flying Sunday, October 26 (the first day of northern winter schedule, except Canada and US). OZ should have the new F in their B747 by then right? Thanks! My LAX-ICN flight currently shows it's a B747 while my ICN-HKG flight shows as B74E.

The flight you are looking maynot sell F, but it does have F on 74E. OZ only use 74E for ORD, which I had done F award roundtrip ORD-ICN-HKG. F on 74E is still at the nose like 747, the only difference Y is right behing F, with all C being in upper deck.

So if I am booked in a F award, but issued in I class (Biz), do I get to sit in F or in C?

My husband and I flew roundtrip JFK/ICN in the middle of March. The service was indeed outstanding. We both slept for 8 hours straight. We had seats 3A and 4A and were very happy with with our selection since he was on the same side as I and just in front. The 2 seats together in the center IMHO, were far less private feeling since the people in 4A and 4K had a direct view of everything happening in these seats.

If you have an I ticket, then you don't have a F award. You will be in business class for every leg which shows I.

Those are not the A380 suites. :D

I have a F award. It's just that the B74E that I was booked in from ICN to HKG sells as a 2-cabin aicraft. Thus, I am booked in I instead of O. I have requested 3A for this flight! :D

Any new seating chart for the new F/C? The OZ website seems to still show the old chart.:(

I'm flying ICN-NRT... wondering if their 74E is retrofitted, or should i got with 777's on this routing.

If you're flying C, I would just get the 777. If you're flying F, you don't have much of a choice, do you...? Or are they still running flights in F on NRT? They didn't seem to, last time I checked.

These seats are identical to CI's newest F, doesn't look like KE's.
I've flown in this cabin. If you are with a partner and want to talk, you'd better go with the 2 in the center or aisle 1. You'll be too far apart in row 2, and the seats face outward toward the wall of the plane.
