American Express Membership Rewards - False application

American express put a block on my account they are saying it's because they suspect a false application, I told them I want to cancel the card and they said they would refund my fee back pro rata which is £275. What do you think all this is about? Do you think that the police will come and arrest me?

They will if you did something illegal, like identity theft or fraud. You sound suspicious when you ask questions like this.

That usually triggers a financial review, not suspicion of a false application. Either way, the cops wouldn't come unless they thought you committed a crime, and AmEx would have to convince someone of that, which is rather unlikely unless you actually did.
