Did anyone else fly on NZ2 on 24 March?

I was up in the nose, and had the dubious pleasure of having 2 guys from a US rock band in the cabin. You should've seen the looks from the rest of the passnengers!

One of them was actually quite pleasant and polite, but the other guy kept talking VERY loudly about how his mates need to be quiet, etc.

One of the FAs was so impressed by them that he broke character for a Kiwi and gave one of them preferential service - not very egalitarian of him

The other male FA was polite, but boy, was he NOT going to smile, no matter how friendly everyone else was. Very serious, LOL!

Well, speaking of egalitarianism, they ended up having to wade through the same long queue as the rest of us, thanks to a TACA flight that came in before us.

It's natural to assume that when up front in C, you'll have "nothin' but a good time." Unfortunately, "every rose has its thorn..."

:D

justakiwi (whose "mama don't dance...")

(and yes, given we are talking about the same people, Mr Michaels seems quite urbane; I believe the other chap is his offsider/bodyguard... I met them in the WLG KC)

Most likely you had the "pleasure" to meet somebody returning from the Rock2WGTN festival in Wellington which was on the Easter weekend and featured stars like KISS, Ozzy Osbourne, Whitsnake, Alice Cooper, Poison and many more.

Whitesnake have just left the lounge here in AKL for their flight to LAX (NZ2) - let's hope for everybody on that flight that they'll behave! ;)

When we saw them when arriving at the lounge we thought that it was probably them who kicked us out of our preassigned seats on the flight to HKG, but it turns out it must have been somebody else...

A few years ago, when they were at the height of their fame, I was disembarking from NZ1 at Los Angeles when who should be right next to me in the queue but Rachel Stevens and Jo O'Meara from S Club 7!

They were both absolutely tiny, but Rachel in particular was stunning, and Mrs DCF still likes to impersonate how goggle-eyed I was.

The best bit of the story is that I'd been upgraded, so I was on my way out of First Class, while the pop stars had to make do with Business Class!

(Americans may not know who they were, but S Club 7 were massive in the UK and NZ, and they were presumably filming their TV show "S Club 7 in LA".)

Jo O'Meara was on Celebrity Big Brother here in the UK. She attracted some criticism for engaging in sustained racist bullying. It wasn't nice at all.

I finally looked up the bands who played that weekend and recognized this guy (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/sfgate/detail?blogid=7&entry_id=25323) as the one in front of me in 3K!

He was in the immigration line behind me at LAX as well, but peeled off when they opened a second lane.

There was one other guy from the band in the cabin, but haven't bothered to figure out who he was.

I remember S Club 7. A lot of laughter just now as I watched some of their video clips on Youtube - haven't heard their songs in years. Can't believe I used to like them.

This has very little to do with aviation, but I felt very sorry for Jo at the time.

Here was a woman from a humble background, with no education to speak of, who made ignorant comments about a mega-rich Indian Bollywood star, and lost everything as a result. She's a friend of Jermaine Jackson, so how prejudiced can she really be? And her friend and bandmate Rachel with whom she was travelling is Jewish, so she doesn't exactly keep the company of white supremacists.

She was actually the only talented one in the band, yet when she let herself be seen 24/7 the public saw her say and do what most of them would have.

And any of you who don't know who Rachel Stevens is (was), google her image. Then you'll know why I still fly Air NZ to LAX whenever I can!

And by the way, the first solo single by Rachel was called "Sweet dreams my LA ex". Try telling me that that wasn't inspired by NZ1 to Los Angeles. (I keep telling you Mrs dcf, she was yearning after me when she sang it!)
