Hi all knowledgable FT'ers!
Can i please get a definitive answer to the following question.
What is the Cabin and Checked baggage allowance on international flights for infants under 2 years?
I cannot get a straight answer from res or their supervisors, or from the airport. Nothing definitive, they all just say 'should be' or 'probably OK' or 'it implies such and such'.
here are some example regulations all from AirNZ tickets or website.....
Tasman Checked Baggage allowances:
The checked baggage allowance for infants is 1 piece with a maximum weight of 10kgs and a combined dimension (length + width + height) of 158cm (62in)
5.2 Carry-on Baggage Allowances
For the safety and comfort in-flight of all passengers, the amount of baggage that you
may take into the aircraft cabin (except infants under 2 years of age) is limited to:
(b) Travel to/from/through the USA: All Classes: 1 bag with a maximum combined
dimension (length and width and height) of 115cm. Maximum weight of 7 kg.
(c) All other international journeys: Economy and Premium Economy - 1 bag with a
maximum combined dimension (length and width and height) of 115cm. Maximum
weight of 7kg. Business Class - 2 bags with a maximum combined dimension (length
and width and height) of 115cm each. Maximum weight of 7kg per piece.
(d) All Classes
In addition to your applicable allowance, you may also take on board: A small handbag
or purse; an umbrella or walking stick; a small camera or pair of binoculars; a reasonable
amount of reading matter for the flight; an overcoat or wrap; infant's food for
consumption in flight.
But what about this one contradicting both of these, direct from the AirNZ website, and not specifying cabin or checked......
Infants are entitled to the same baggage allowance as the accompanying passenger, including car seats and strollers.
Does anyone know for sure?? It's mainly the cabin baggage I'm interested in, but would like to know checked policy if possible as well.
Cheers
