Avis really did a good job today. I reserved a car at 1:30p and was going to pick it up 30 minutes later. I noticed there was quite a line at the counter (it's a small non-corporate location) as I was approaching the office. However, before I even got there, one of the agents recognized me, told me my car was ready, and handed me the keys and the contract. On top of that, he remembered that I liked Hybrids (nice upgrade from a midsize).
I really thought that level of service was quite impressive, so I'm thinking about submitting some comments to Avis on the website. Does anyone know if those get forwarded or if they do anything good for the rental location?

I think sending an actual snailmail letter would guarantee kudos reached the right ears.

Since it sounds like you are a frequent renter there and this is FT, I have to ask: Are you earning any points/miles from your rentals?

I've complimented employees through the website and gotten a response that states the comments will be forwarded to the station manager & shared with the employee. I also remember EZMonee saying that if you snail-mail praise with an employee's name, they get something... maybe $25? It's been a while and I can't find his post, but maybe he can refresh us.

You mean at non-airport locations? Yes - Usually Virgin Airlines (1000 pts/rental); Lufthansa works, too.

I agree with you; that is commendable service to a regular customer. My advice is enjoy it while you can.
I was getting the exact same kind of service from one agent at my local non-airport Avis location (it is Corporate o&o). But when he quit that service stopped. I.e., he was the reason for the great service, not Avis. And they see me less often, esp. because the Hertz HLE next door takes care of me like that now.
I spoke to the location manager any number of times about how exceptional this agent was and that she should learn from him and train/hire others accordingly. But it fell on deaf ears.
Perhaps, you are fortunate and the manager of that location instills that kind of thinking into all of his people. But I doubt it. And what happens when that manager leaves?
