iPhone traffic flattened a bit during February, according to mobile advertising marketplace AdMob's monthly Mobile Metrics Report. The report, based on mobile browser data acquired via each advertising request received by AdMob during the month, states Research In Motion's BlackBerry 8100 dominated February smartphone usage, generating 34 percent of worldwide traffic; Nokia's smartphones followed at 29 percent, with Motorola smartphones accounting for just 1 percent. AdMob credits the iPhone traffic plateau to the theory that consumers use new devices more actively in January, but taper off during the months that follow.

The Mobile Metrics Report additionally tracks differences between international markets: While the BlackBerry continues to lead U.S. mobile traffic at 39 percent, Nokia dominates overseas, claiming 89 percent market share in India and South Africa, 86 percent in Indonesia and 67 percent in the U.K. The Motorola KRZR remains the top device in the U.S., with the SonyEriccson K800i on top in the U.K.

It is a fairly obscure choice, but I have a Helio Ocean. Kind of like an iPhone, but without the touchscreen and running J2ME. It runs on Sprint's CDMA network, so it is not recommended for world traveling folks.

T-mobile quad band I paid $30 or so for they unlocked for me.

It rings I answer it
I need to make a call I press buttons and send

About as basic as one can get, but a great price for a quad band.

Nokia e65 as well w/ truphone. It has the easy of use of a simple phone, but with plenty of power under the skin.

Sorry, I didn't title this well. I wasn't meaning to ask what phone you all use. It was just an interesting blurb stating that Blackberry's are using mobile data more than any other US device, and Nokia's dominate in other countries. 89% market share is an awfully high number.

Nokia is market leader in Australia but the Koreans are snapping at the laggard brands. I would guess LG/Samsung combined would be at or near the top of many Asian country markets, beaten only by Nokia.

Does this thesis stand up to other country/region mobile brand sales rankings?

Blackberry 8703e on Verizon. It's been a very good phone.

Treo 755p on Sprint. There's no way I can get a cheaper voice/data price than on Sprint and I'm not a fan of their windows based phones.

I'm using a Nokia N95. It's a bit of a geek phone, which is one reason I love. I've found having the GPS in it to be invaluable when I'm in a strange city.

But aren't you happy that it has turned into a thread with some legs?

I have a BB 8800 but the pain I'm feeling in the joints of my thumbs and down my forearm are making me consider whether this is wise.

I don't really know how this can be accurate, since windows mobile devices are suppossed to be the majority of smartphones accessing the internet still and WinMo browsers produce the largest percentage of mobile web traffic. Yet, in the list in the first post they are not even represented?

Is this Ads clicked or something.? the article isn't too clear, but leaving out winmo devices leaves me suspect

I agree with you on the Windows based phone part. I have the original Blackjack and it is just about the worst piece of technology I have ever owned. Slow, needs restarting, poor battery life etc etc..
