MilesBuzz! - List of best mileage redemption rates (amongst most of airline FF programs)

So, in the midst of organizing my mileage spending spree, I've been studying mileage redemption rates of most of the US airlines and thought that it would be nice to have a informative thread about best mileage redemption rates for specific area/region pairs (based on RT redemption).

The objective is to find lowest mileage required for redeeming one round trip award ticket (all classes) between the two specified regions.

I will use post to update any others that I have missed or need to correct:

I have so far found following:

1) N.Asia to S.Asia business class (DL 30K miles on KE, almost all flights except on black out dates)
2) N.Asia to Central Asia business class (US 60K miles *A award)
3) N.Asia to South Pacific business class (US 60K miles *A award, includes Asutralia/NZ/French Polynesia)
4) Central Asia to South Pacific or OZ/NZ (all class, UA various levels upto 90K for F between MLE-PPT *A award)

could be really useful also for the CC to see where there are gains from trade, especially some sort of matrix that has all the rates of all the airlines...

I've always thought that Aeroplan's redemption rate for regular business class tickets in North America (40,000, versus 25,000 for Y) was a good deal. On a number of other airlines, the redemption rate is 50,000 points.

Aeroplan also offers short-haul redemption rates between adjacent states and provinces (e.g. Ontario to New York or New Jersey for 15,000 points in Y instead of 25,000).

I think the *alliance North America to SE Asia for 60/90/120 for coach, business, first was a decent redemption.

It's a spectacularly bad idea to list all the outstanding redemption values in a single thread in a public forum, which can be read by anyone, including airline lurkers.

Let's keep these deals quiet, so they survive. @:-)

moderators, can we move this to OMNI or other forums that is like CC where access is limited?

Some of the work has been done in these lists for Canadians although the redemption rates are the same for anyone flying out of the USA:

North America rewards:

Caribbean, Hawaii, Mexico rewards:

I don't see why this is necessary. You're only reporting published info.

Agreed. It isn't as if United doesn't know what American charges for FF tix, and vice versa.

A personal favorite that we recently discovered is the 30K *A award for roundtrip trans-tasman business class travel, i.e. Australia to NZ. ^

Well, then. :D Let the thread stay in this forum. My intention was to help those planning mileage awards to take advantage of "better" rates especially thanks to the coupon connection possibilities.

Anyway, if you are planning an ultimate honeymoon or anniversary (10 days or two weeks), I'd highly recommend utilizing MLE-PPT award on UA. :D Of course getting to one of these destination is another challenge, but once you are there, it's one of the best redemption rates, period. :D

N/Z to MLE is also quite good. :)

AA offers off-peak (winter) Economy travel from the US to Europe for 40K.

AA offers intra-European awards for 20K in Economy and you can mix and match British Airways, Finnair, Iberia and Malev (One World) as well as Aer Lingus.

And if you're looking at last minute (between 2 weeks and 2 days in advance), you can use Miles and More (Lufthansa, Austrian, Swiss, LOT, Croatian, etc.) for 15K in Economy or 25K in Biz intra-Europe (max of one connection).

One of the best uses of AA or DL miles within the US is 25K for an award ticket from the lower 48 to Alaska, which can include a stop.

For last summer I booked with Delta:
MSP-ANC-AKN-ANC-MSP (AKN - King Salmon AK, jumping off point for Katmai NP). Just ANC-AKN-ANC would have cost over $400 if purchased separately.

For this coming summer I booked with American:
MSP-JNU-GST-JNU-MSP (with connections in between, GST - Gustavus, jumping off point for Glacier Bay NP). The JNU-GST-JNU ticket would have cost about $200 if purchased separately.

There are countless possibilities with a stop in ANC or FAI then continuing to another point in AK using AS.
