American Express Membership Rewards - Double MR Points Opportunities

Hello all,

Can someone please tell me what the current options are for earning double MR points? I see something about earning double points on travel? But does this travel need to be booked through the AMEX travel Web site? Or do you earn these points just for using the card at a travel merchant? I just booked a bunch of hotel rooms for my honeymoon through the Four Seasons and Hyatt Web sites. Should I have done this through the AMEX travel site to earn additional points?

I know about the BonusPointsMall.

Is there anything else?

I've been using the Plum Card for the past few months earning 2% cash back for everything. I pocketed a nice $5000 since October 2007. But for the next few months I need to switch back to my Gold Card because I won't make the $5000 spend threshold for the Plum, and I'd only earn 1% cash back.

Received an offer in the mail today for double MR points on wireless bills for 6 months.

The mailer says it "is good for solicited Cardmembers only." And you need to enroll in auto payments between March 1 and March 31 through the link above.

You need to book via the American Express travel website, and hotel-only bookings do not qualify for the bonus unless it is a prepaid rate...

Keep in mind that these rates may preclude you from earning your hotel points at some chains. You may have to decide if the MR points are worth more to you than the hotel ones.

Bear in mind also that when American Express says "double points" they mean "one additional point per dollar". One point for booking on their website in addition to the point earned by the payment transaction on the card.
