I'm looking into booking a vacation, and I'm deciding whether to book directly through Starwood or whether to book through FHR. Do you know if I will still earn Starwood points on my room rate if I book through FHR?
Thanks!

Not sure, but I bet the guys over at the SPG forum would know. They have a Starwood employee who posts on their forum, "Starwood Lurker" (his name is William)....
maybe you can send him a PM
EDIT: Check out this thread. Seems you will get SPG credit.

Yes, you get full credit. Per SPG's terms & conditions:
"Members at the Preferred Guest® level earn two Starpoints for every eligible U.S. dollar spent at participating hotels or resorts booked through Starwood Web sites, hotels, call centers and your travel agent or corporate booking too"
Booking through FHR is considered using a travel agent, as far as SPG is concerned. What you do NOT get credit for is when you book bulk rates like priceline, expedia prepaid, etc.
And be advised that there are sometimes bonuses and promos that require directly booking on spg.com.

Though I agree that there have been posts about this on the SPG forum,
I don't think it's a bad idea to have a thread here on the Amex side
to share experiences.
To date, I have never booked a Starwood stay through Cent but I was
thinking about this just the other day and wondering if the there would
be increased benefits.
We're already Starwood Plat-- so we typically get nice upgrades on that end, but if a hotel is a member of FHR there are additional amenities.
Anybody ever try it?

There should be additional amenities, as the customized FHR amenity would be in addition to the SPG Platinum wlecome amenity. Also, if you are not upgraded to a room with lounge access, the conteninental breakfast provided by FHR may be additave to the Platinum benefits.
