American Express Membership Rewards - Booking DL flights via AmEx Travel query

I usually book DL flights directly with the airline, either on the website or (if I'm having trouble with the website) by phone.

This way, my itinerary appears in my FF account on delta.com and I can keep an eye on schedule changes, seat assignments, and whether or not my upgrades (eg. confirmed Z upgrades) are still showing as confirmed.

If I were to book my DL flight with AmEx travel service (in my case, Centurion), would that itinerary be visible on Delta.com when I log into my account?

Also, if I were to book the flight with AmEx and asked them to book me an M fare, could I then call Delta.com for the confirmed Z upgrade?

Sorry if this is more a Delta question, but I thought it was more related to how AmEx travel service operates, since I've never used them before.

Last question - if I book on the AmEx travel site and opt to pay with MR points, or a combination of cash + MR points, does that flight appear as if it is a normally booked flight (not award flight) and would it earn FF miles and status miles on DL as if it were a flight booked for cash, and be upgradeable as per normal DL rules?

Thanks,
Susan

CTS will be able to book you in a specific fare class if you ask them to. You could then call DL to get the Z upgrade. I'm not sure why you'd want to, unless you have CTS booking a bunch of other stuff for you; otherwise it is another call to get the same service you'd get from DL's SMS line, though CTS cannot tell you if the upgrade inventory is available at time of booking.

The pay with MR points tickets are normal revenue tickets as far as the carrier is concerned, but the DL Pay w/ Points seats are not, so be careful on that one.

Thanks for the reply. The only reason I was thinking of booking through AmEx was to possibly pay part of the fare with MR points, but I wanted to be sure it was still seen as an M fare revenue ticket with DL and that I could still book the upgrade.

The more I think about it, however, it probably is not a good use of MR points.
