JetBlue TrueBlue - E190 Lgb-ord

I was looking at our pairings for the end of April while doing my schedule and I noticed that the E-190 will be operating LGB-ORD towards the end of April. May start earlier but I haven't looked at JFK's pairings as BOS and JFK are the only 2 cities that have 190 pairings on a regular basis.
Interesting...looks like they'll be using both ORD and AUS to route them back and forth between the coasts.

I was wondering when they would start routing the 190 through ORD, this makes sense. Since LGB is a mx base they will start to support the aircraft there. Also helps with upgauging or downgauging the flights based on loads.

LGB mechanics have been getting trained on the "quirks" of the 190 for the past couple of months. That bird is one tempermental beast, much like the old SF3's at Chicago Express. Great in the summer time but when winter rolled around they where hanger queens!

I haven't done many 190 trips the past few months. A lot of our pairings on the 320 have been worth awsome credit hours (20-30 credit hours, which is awsome). It allows me to maximize my time working and days off. Unfortunatly the 190 pairings havent been that great to get me to switch back. I have a few 190 trips coming up here in the next few weeks. The last 190 trip I took we developed a major problem while on the ground in BUF. The plane was eventually shipped back to MCO and then on the Embraer. The problems are still with the sensors in the aircraft. The plane has a sensor for everything and it tests those sensors constantly. When it develops what it thinks is a fault, it flags it in the flight deck. 99% of the time it is a glitch that is solved with a reboot. The plane, itself is a great airplane, well built, and very comfortable. Embraer justs needs to uninstall Windows Vista and put XP back in or switch to a MAC OS! :D

Agree. I know some people who worked on Vista. Knowing how much they claim Vista is terrible and buggy I'm not switching away from XP. I also still have Office 2000, but that is another story.
I'm suprised that B6 isn't flying the A320 LGB-ORD. They only have 2 flights in that market so I would think they would want to maximize the amount of seats on the flight.

I do the IT support and networking for my company (Its always fun fixing computers as close as my own or as far way as Nebraska on a remote basis). My boss, after buying a new computer for himself from best buy (without asking me first ), asked my I wasn't going to upgrade our computer our computer to Vista. Two weeks later I was at his house trying to help get him around the bugs and other issues he was having with the product. Its not pretty. You really have to wait for a tech product to be out atleast a year before you make a full commitment to switching. Otherwise you run with the productly blindly and you could end up with problems like the ones with the E190.

I'm almost fed up enough to get a mac! Although I am in SEA and some people I know may be offended by me buying a mac. Currently I'm on a nearly 5 year old machine. Don't need anything more than this for now (does email and FT well, what more do I need?)
Maybe Vista is the reason behind all the E190 failures. Leave it to a monopoly to come out with an inaduquate and unneded product. What software does the A320 use?

As a business man, I am impressed at how Microsoft went from being nothing to a giant in relative no time. However, it seems like some of their products in recent time (Vista, Millienum, 2000, NT) just hit the market way too soon. Its like they let the market place do their testing for them.
As far as mac goes, I've never really liked them but recently (within the last few years) they have been coming out with products I kinda like. It'll still be a while before I consider a switch. Its just in the ballpark now.
How did I get so off topic?
As far as the E190s go, how big is the microsoft involvement in correcting the software issues? Are the doing anything or are they leaving everything up to Embrear?

That was somewhat humorous, but also true. I agree with the EU, MSFT should not force other players out of their market and make themselves a monopoly. I don't work for B6, EMB, MSFT, or any other place where I could become more knowledgeable about the E190 problems. All I know is that Vista is a bad product and XP is fine for everything Vista can do (to the best of my knowing).

MSFT didn't program the software, i think it came with the Honeywell Avionics package so i guess we could blame them. I was just poking fun at MSFT since they have had major issues with Vista and what not. Don't worry our planes don't get the "Blue Screen of Death" :)

If Windows 98 had had anything to do with commercial aviation, we'd all be taking the train today and for the next 100 years. ;)

Oh, I didn't know that. I thought you were serious when you complained about MSFT. "Blue Screen of Death" is a good name for an E190. Or how about "Reboot the Screen of Blue" :)

Yeah, I thought you were using some form of the new Vista on the E190. I guess its good you didn't go that route so quickly. However, does there seems to some any kind of light at the end of the tunnel to the tech problems?

This is why it was called the E180, not sure if that name will ever go away. I hope it does.

The tech problems that plagued the 190 are by and large a thing of the past. Tech Ops works hand in hand with Embraer to keep them as reliable as possible, though nothing's perfect. The 190 is a fantastic piece of equipment, and I've found that a lot of the fuss comes from folks who have never worked with a brand new type of aicraft. It's good to be the launch customer, but it does take a while to get all the kinks hammered out.
Overall, 190 reliability has increased by several orders of magnitude from where we were a year ago. Most of the problems being faced now are isolated incidents that aren't making significant impact to the operation as a whole. They may be a bit cranky on cold Northeast winter mornings, but hey, so is a good Volvo. :) Hopefully, we'll see even more improvement with reliability as they head west to some warmer weather.

The fact that we are sending the E190's out to the west coast should speak to the amount of work and increased reliablity that our tech ops crew has accomplished. The majority of my work is on the 190 and I love the plane!

I will definetly want to fly the E190 soon. But does the 2X2 seating really make up for the pitch loss from the A320?

How could it? The seats are 0.2" wider, which might help a bit. But the window seat is the same as a window on the A320 in that you still have someone on one side of you. Ditto for the aisle seat. The real difference is that you cannot be stuck in a middle seat, so it is better for a third of the passengers who would've been in middles, but if you're getting an aisle or window anyways you lose 1-4" pitch. Not the end of the world, and the 32-33" is still pretty decent, but it isn't the best in the industry any more at that level.

The 190 is an excellent aircraft! You won't really notice the pitch difference unless you just sit exclusively in the first 12 rows of the Airbus. I actually prefer to non-rev on the 190 when I can because I love the 2x2 seating and really relaxed atmosphere of the aircraft. The other reason I love it as a non-rev is because I know I won't get stuck in a middle seat. I'm going to either have a window or an aisle!
