Air New Zealand Air Points - guidance on seating

I'm going to be travelling business class on Air NewZealand and had a question about the seat config. I would like to sit with my wife, but not sure if I should pick the two middle seats that face away from each other or one middle and one window that would face each other, but across the aisle. The aircraft business class is the same as Virgin, so if anyone has travelled on this type of config, I'd really appreciate your input.

Which aircraft are you flying - a 777 or 747?
Do you happen to have status with Star Alliance?
If on the 747 and you do have elite status, go for 1A and 1K, as they're quite close to each other. The rest of the seats in the nose get progressively further apart.
Otherwise, I haven't noticed much difference between two middle seats or across the aisle from each other. In the former, you'd have to peek over the cubicle wall, however (depending on how tall you are!). You'll be able to dine together if one of you sits on the footrest.
Have a great trip! :)

Sounds like you are in business class. Don't go for 2 middle seats in the same row - instead go for seats with the same letter but 1 row apart. Easier to talk over the wall than shouting across the aisle, and easy for one of you to slip around to the ottoman of the other.

interesting - we are heading out this week on the 777 sfo-akl and the NZ agent advised across the aisle was better than 1 row apart ... perhaps the agent hasn't been on the planes either... i think I'd trust Kiwi Flyer over the agent.

it's personal preference - some couple are happier looking at each other and not talking as much ;)

Not that kiwi Flyer's neargodlike authority needs confirmation.... :) He travels more than most of us all put together!!
But I fully agree. We had 14K and 15K on the 747 and it was brilliant. We also had 20A and 20K on another leg (upstairs on 747), and while it was OK, certainly not as good for communication. 777 from what I've seen is much the same in that across the aisle isn't so good..
So assuming you want to talk to each other, I wouldn't go across the aisle on either 777 or 747!!
Cheers

P.S yes from those seat numbers you can probably tell we were on standby AP upgrades!! Got them both though!!!
