Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific - Anything to do NEAR AKL Airport

I will have a few hours to kill between two flights on Sunday. I don't have enough time to go downtown and enjoy myself. Is there anything to do near the airport or any good local restaurants near the airport? I will have a free towncar at my disposal courtesy of Emirates and the UA CNZ deal.
I know I could probably enjoy the extra time in the Koru club but after 20+ hours of flying I kinda want to go outside. :)

The Villa Maria winery is nearby if you like wine (and wine tasting).

How long is a few hours? If it is just 3 hours between time of arrival and time of departure I would not bother. By the time you have immigration, customs and immigration again, plus the need to arrive in time for boarding, you'd have 30-60 minutes landside. Not enough time to go anywhere.
Well I only have 4 hours from arrival to departure but I need to go landside anyways because I am traveling on 2 separate tickets and have a checked bag. The plan would be recheck in and go do something but I realize I won't have much time at all. :( I wish my first flight got in earlier or the second flight left later :(
I DO like wine...I will look into that!

If the airlines allow interlining you can through check your bags (will need to show the onward ticket to do this). Which airlines are you flying?
If it is of interest, there is a Butterfly House right near the airport.

Here's the link to the Villa Maria page...

It's one of NZ's bigger wine labels. They're pretty well priced for the quality. Personal favourites are the Gewurztraminer's and Oaked Chardonnays.

Well Emirates just destroyed my chances of going to the winery. Someone dented the door on the EK plane to AKL and delayed it by 2+ hours. They switched me to Air New Zealand but will have no time to spare in AKL. Oh well, thanks for everyones help!!

Yeah the EK lounge was nice. When I landed in AKL on NZ there was an announcement on the plane for Mr. Uva185 to meet an Emirates representative on the jetway. The EK rep told me my luggage would be sent directly to CNS so there was no need to clear immigration to retrieve it. She escorted me to the international transfer area which was nice since I had no idea where it was. ^ to EK!! (Even without flying them)
