JetBlue TrueBlue - Rec'd free Dove Hand Lotion on Flight

Flew FLL-JFK-LAS on 2/29 with usual service. On 3/4 (NOT the redeye) I flew LAS-JFk and was pleasantly surprised to see the FA walk the aisle with the blue bag handing out free mini samples (1 oz) of Dove Cream Oil - Intensive Bod Lotion. I asked the FA if it's new and she said yes, that they will begin advertising on the TV soon.

So, this leads me to ask if it has anything to do with ShutEye kits? It's a great enhancement, even if only for the sake of marketing. Is it only on transcons?

All kidding aside, (not to change JetBlueNYFL's topic) will the TV adds be just in NYC or spread out to places like AUS, SAN, IAD, and SEA?

As far as the shut eye kits and the cream goes, its a great idea to have new stuff to be put in there. People like new stuff as long as the change isn't tramatic. Also, people also find comfort in name brands. Its just something they either already know or heard of.

Just what I meant, sorry for the confusion. But I agree with Seat13C - TV advertising is greatly needed! In the early days, they had some classic commercials - the little kid being fed, 2 kids talking at LGB, mockumentary, etc. Many of these can be found on youtube. Then, they came out with the sincerely, jetBlue TV commercials which only lasted a few months. From my understanding, annual ad budget with JWT is about $30 million, which is relatively low.

Also, NOTE: this was given out on a DAYTIME flight - lossely, not part of any kit. Are they still doing ShutEye kits? I think the contract with Bliss ended, but these individual Dove lotions are really nice and actually very generous size for a sample. At least a good 5+ days worth inside.

On March 3, we will add Dove, maker of a wide range of personal care products, to our onboard sampling program. Dove is launching a marketing campaign on Channel 13 of the Inflight Entertainment System to promote Cream Oil, its newest line of intensive hand and body lotions.

Throughout the month of March, we will hand out over 700,000 Dove samples, which will be provided onboard at every Provisioning location, and on most flights.

Is it safe to assume that this promo is just for 700,000 bottle and in March only?

Yes, so far it is just for the month of March. Dove will decide if they wish to continue the promotion or stop after the March. They came to us so there is no cost passed on to us, it is the same as the Apple I-Phone Commercial.

On a redeye this week so current info:

The shuteye kit contains an eyemask (JetBlue branded) and generic earplugs. No more products (Bliss or otherwise).

Bliss wanted to increase the cost of the Bliss Pack so we went with our own pack, hence the loss of the lip balm and hand lotion.

Still hot towelettes prior to landing, I assume?

Yes we still have the hot towels, all the rest of the service remained unchanged save the redesigned Sleep Kits.

About a year later...flew FLL-JFK yesterday and received the Dove sample, along with a $1.50 coupon on any one Dove Cream Oil Body Lotion.

Received the Dove sample, MCO-HPN on 1/30/09..have also received Colgate toothpaste and Maybelline mascarra (on prior flights)

Cool, never got the other samples. For the Dove, my parents received it last week on LAS-JFK, but not on their outbound from NY. As mentioned before, I received it on Saturday from FLL-JFK, but not today on the return.

my friend and i got the dove kit on a recent IAD-JFK flight. it was nice since my skin was dry that day! ^

also got a sample while boarding JFK-SJU... ended up using it for my sunburn the next day... ;)

This is the newest version of the promotion. The coupon inside is an addition that Dove put in. I've had them on some flights but not quite a lot. Granted I have been doing most of my flying between non-hub (non-provisioning) cities recently. I felt quite odd during the toothpaste promotion as I felt like people thought I was telling them they needed to brush. Handing out toothpaste is quite an interesting way to start off a conversation though! :D

A friend and I were working the JFK-BOS flight, airtime was 33 mins. Almost full load. We were able to perform both beverage and snack service, trash, Dove Samples, trash again... The customers were amazed to see us in the aisle nonstop almost the entire flight :p
