DW and I have tickets booked to Aruba with a return on 8/16, then connecting to IAD.

I went to pull up our reservation today because I was buying additional tix for others now going with us.

I noticed that my return flight had disappeard and I had a pending credit of about 1/2 the taxes.

I called Jet Blue and the agent couldnt figure it out. All flights AUA-JFK on 8/16 have been deleted. She would put us back on the 15th or 17th. The 15th cuts a day from the vacation, the 17th gets us to IAD 11:56 pm and then we have to drive to Baltimore and work the next day. No real good solution.

I am rather irritated that I discovered this "by accident". No calls, no emails-nothing. She even said that there was no notes about the reason and that it was done by the airport.

Any ideas?

Seats are available for purchase on the website for 8.16 for both flights, and not even at the highest fare buckets. There's also the AUA-BOS flight that you might be able to get them to route you on.

Call back and ask again.

It seems the problem is the connecting flight JFK-IAD. They cancelled that flight and instead of calling to clarify my wishes, they just cancelled my return.

Edit: Looks like a schedule change has made it such that your connecting flight (I'm guessing 1315, JFK-IAD) doesn't operate on Saturdays.

AUA-BOS-IAD doesn't seem like a viable option because of the timing of the first leg. If you've got to get to Baltimore, I guess returning to RIC isn't an option, either. :(

Here's the story.

Jet Blue is no longer operating flight 1315 JFK-IAD on Sat 8/16.

This was the only flight after the AUA flight arrives.

We are going to return a day early. We will still have a great time. It just bugs me that they didnt call or email. According to the agent, this happened a while ago. The possibility of showing up at the airport and not having a seat is not comforting.

Why not take the non-stop on United or a connection with AA instead?

We actually enjoy Jet Blue for this flight. In addition, we save our Amex Membership rewards points throughout the year in order to transfer to Jet Blue for our annual trip to Aruba.

Our son and his girlfriend are on the AA direct flight (BWI-AUA). There is a stop at MIA.

My condolences to them.

To me, I'd pay up to 10% more for the B6 product over AA's. I've flown AA enough that they really don't do more that moved aircrafts from point A to point B and people just so happen to be on board. Although, last year I was able to run into Thomas Hayden Church one time.

I agree we do not care for AA economy.

Its a long story. We agreed to let our son take his GF if they flew AA as we had enough miles for award tix for both. He actually thinks its pretty cool to do this on his own with her (he's 18, she's 19). They will get AC access through Amex Plat. They are very excited.

That is sweet! They will not really care about the airplane, they will be to excited about the whole experience.

I wish I had parents like you. The most I ever got out of mine was buying my own tickets and didn't have club access.

I hope they enjoy themselves.

Mr. Vker, How long will you end up being in AUA? It's a great destination, but to be honest after 6 days you will start to get bored. So, don't worry too much about the lost day of vacation. Great restaurants, gaming, shopping, etc. Just make sure you call your hotel to change, as you don't want to pay for the last night that you will not be there! Same goes for car if renting one.

Helping my parents book JFK-AUA for late May/early June and noticed $125/$145 fares...very cheap! The taxes kill, but still great base fares for the summer.

We have a time share there and are there for 7 nights (8/8-8/15). The wife and I decided to book and extra night for this trip because its our anniversary.

There is absolutely no major inconvenience here. I was more concerned about now having received a call.

Similar results -- I wanted to be in Aruba for 6 nights, but JetBlue only had award flights available for 7 nights, so I had to extend my vacation too (it was my ten year anniversary). While Aruba is a nice place to visit... I was pretty bored by the end. Didnt help any that then I got stuck in JFK coming back :)

Have a good time, and the lack of notification does suck, but at least you're smart enough to check periodically.
