I took KE's ICN-YYZ flight in January and was very surprised at large the number of Mainland Chinese passengers who connected to the YYZ flight. Last month my friend took the YYZ-ICN flight and he too reported that there were many mainland passengers on that flight whom upon arriving at ICN were connecting to PEK, PVG, etc. Is it common that KE has a signficant amount of Mainland passengers on their Toronto flights and that ICN is a common transit point for people traveling between China and Eastern Canada?

Maybe cheap KE fare is the answer.

Korean Air offers the best connection out of the Northeastern part of China. With cheap fares, those Chinese would choose Korean over their own national carriers.
