First of all i'm brand new to all of this- business travel, loyalty programs and hotel reviewing.

After 16 hours on the road we were quite relieved to see the Hampton sign and a nice newer building behind it.
Parking was ample, which was good as we had a Freightliner straight truck that was easily 35 ft long.
The place seemed kind of empty at first(it's the off season, duh) the desk clerk was courteous and efficient.
No bad surprises in the room, the 2 Queen size beds and sofa bed were all in good shape(sofa bed with a good mattress) and the linens were clean.
I did not get a newspaper outside the door on our first morning, but there was an ample supply outside the breakfast area.
Breakfast was good but nothing to write home about, the typical cold fare and a 2 dish hot station.
The fried eggs looked like a patty formed in a machine but tasted ok, the french toast on the second day was quite good.
We came back from our meetings and dinner to find a clean room with a swan full of candies on one of the beds.

The main reason I choose to stay at Hilton properties is that they do not have the same restrictive age policies as other companies.
I had originally booked a Holiday Inn and was told in a confirmation that you must be 21 to check in and that's no good for me being 20 years old.

Not the experience I had there, but to each their own.

Room was typical Hampton. Staff talked about me while I was getting tea .

Do tell. Was there anything in particular that inspired their talk? ;)

Well thanks to FT I'm in the "I refuse to show my ID when not required."

At check in the lady asked for my ID. I asked why. She said for my credit card. I said "I'm a diamond and have never been asked to show my ID before." Another lady came over and said they are not supposed to ask for ID from gold or diamond.

While I was getting tea the first lady was instructing someone who just came on "Did you know we are not supposed to ask ID from gold or diamond? Some girl was getting all..." I stopped listening and just went about my business.

Well it was before I started traveling to CA so at the time it honestly was the first time i'd been asked for ID at a hilton property in 2 years of business travel.

I know it is arrogant to play the diamond card, but I think it's tacky to prevent credit card fraud with a customer who booked in advance with a credit card used for over a year for all stays and always paid in full...not to mention Visa and MC prohibit the practice.
