American Express Membership Rewards - HHilton and MR giving the ruanround on bonus points

So I decided to participate on the 50% bonus transfer deal to Hilton back in November. (This was before I signed up for Amex HHonors, but after I had to transfer at the horrible regular MR rate a few times - Hawaiian Air no longer being an option.)

13 weeks after my transfer and my bonus points still hadn't posted, so I decided to shoot Amex an email. Here's part of the answer from American Express MR:
You can contact Hilton Hhonors Member Services at 1-800-548-8690 (9am-2am Monday - Friday and 11:30am-8pm Saturday - Sunday, EST). A Hilton representative there will be glad to assist you.

Not to be forgotten, I also emailed HHonors to see what they might have to say about this conondrum. Below is part of the answer from Hilton HHonors:
Please feel free to contact American Express at 1-800-297-1000 to inquire about the remaining bonus points. Make sure choose the membership rewards prompt

Having done a few transfers before where points have disappeared (Delta for instance, where you sign up for the promo on Delta's site but do the transfer from Amex) and the lack of clarity around the origins of this current promo, I can't say I am surprised. The extent of the similarity of the ruanround message is fairly amusing though. :D

I actually verfied via email with MR that I qualified for the promo prior to transfering, and this will be my backup, but does anyone know who ultimately is responible for those bonus points?
