I booked my return tickets through Expedia.com from New York to Paris by Air France for 10 day starting March 12th for $574.00 including taxes for 2 adults - Really a slick deal!!!! But now, due to some unavaoidable circumstances, we will not be able to travel and I want to cancel the tickets. When I called the Expedia CSR, She told
1. Tickets are non-refundable.
2. Air France will offer a $574 ticket voucher if I call them to cancel before March 12th, which is valid for 1 year from the date of tickets purchased (Sep 12th).
3. There is a $200 charge fees plus $30 processing fees plus the difference in the fees, in case if I book any other domestic/international flight for any rebooking.
4. I will get this travel voucher if only I cancel the current booking before March 12th and have an itinerary in my mind for immediate booking on the same day of cancellation for the next travel.

I have really have no need of travel to Paris or Europe anytime in this year. I wanted to do something cleverly with that $574 Air france voucher and cancel before March 12th. Otherwise my $574 is lost. I am in San Francisco and Air France don't fly here except LA I guess.
4. Is there anyway I can use this for domestic travel?
5. Are there any Air France partners I can use this voucher? I like to fly to Hawaii/Alaska.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

I don't know AF's rules, but when I was in a similar situation I was told that it couldn't be on a partner airline. You might be able to get a little leeway on having to make the reservations right away, though -- you could ask AF if they'll just give you the voucher for now, if that helps you at all. Could at least get you to the cheaper travel season, so you can get more out of the money...

I am in the exact same boat as you. I cancelled my one ticket from New York to Italy with Air France via Expedia and was given a voucher for the ticket amount to be used within one year only on Air France.

Searching the flight maps for Air France you can see they fly from Miami to some of the Caribbean Islands. That maybe one way to use the credit.

Unfortunately the voucher is non-transferable, but I wonder if I can book a ticket in someone else's name rather than mine.

Beware also the voucher is good for one year from the date you purchased the original tickets and not when you cancelled them.
