Hertz - Trying to use award for Navigator at non-HPC location. :(

I'm trying to rent a Navigator for a week using an award certificate from LIH. Hertz is telling me that since LIH is not on the list of official Hertz Prestige Collection Locations (HPC Location), I can't user the certificate.

Now, LIH has 3 cars marked as prestige on their site. Navigator, Escalade and Hummer H2.

I checked the award terms & conditions (https://www.hertz.com/rentacar/emember/affinity/account/index.jsp?targetPage=termsAndConditionsView.jsp) and nowhere does it say that the location has to be on a special Hertz Prestige Location list. My rental is not in a black out period.

I've talked to 4 reservations people, supervisors, and the awards desk people...spent 3 hours on the phone, but no dice so far.

I'm feeling that this is bordering on FRAUD. I followed their terms and conditions earning the points (spent well over $40,000 over the last couple years and have earned tens of thousands of award points) that I can't use following their own terms and conditions.

Unfortunately for me, I think I've run out of time to try and get it at the 5,000 point level. Tomorrow, March 1, 2008, it goes up to 7,5000 / week.

I'm thinking of writing to my state Attorney General I'm so mad right now.

After an additional hour on the phone and talking to 3 more people, they have compromised and said they would credit the cost of the rental after the fact, but it will cost me 7,500 points.

The problem they reiterated is that the location is not a Hertz Prestige Location and therefore the points could not be used.

How is a normal customer suppose to know that?
