Hilton HHonors - Cruise Award

My wife and I are considering an award cruise. Can anyone tell me what to expect and any pitfalls when attempting to redeem hhpoints for a cruise?

I think one of the reasons you didn't see any response is because redeeming for a cruise is a pretty rare scenario. If you look at the point value vs. cash value of a cruise vs. hotel stays then it becomes pretty clear that the cruise redemption isn't the "Best Buy". For example, you can probably get three weeks in pretty much any hotel globally for the cost of a one week cruise.

With that being said, you are the only one who can determine the best redemption value of the points. If you have loads of HH points or never stay at HH on vacation then I'd say go for it.

This list is for Out of Season/Ocean View In season is slightly higher, but I haven't been able to find anything on Carnival's website that defines in and out of season :rolleyes:

The Cruise idea was just a thought... we've got almost a million points to play with. I suppose we could look at some of the more exotic hotel locations.

I'm sitting on a million and I won't ever burn on a cruise, not so much that I'm not a cruiser but the fact that I can burn them for GLON's at such a better price makes me wonder why anyone would ever burn Hh pts for a cruise

I appreciate the comments.. before I started checking FT I didn't even know about the GLON rewards.. after they stopped the special rewards like a week at an african safari watering hole, I had just assumed I would need to create my own international packages with the per night reward levels.

Guess I'll need to peruse the HH website a little better from now on..... AND check here on FT :D

Another popular award is the AXON - 4 nights for 125k, but you need to have the Hilton AmEx:

check this thread for more info. It's a higher point per night rate, but can be better than the single night rates, depending on the hotel category.
