Hilton HHonors - Question about 100K point limit per stay

I'm thinking about treating myself to a stay at the New York W=A this June, for three reasons:

1.) I haven't stayed there since '94 and have very fond memories ( :) )
2.) I'm trying to make Diamond this year and don't mind spending the extra cash for a nice stay.
3.) There is a "triple HHonors points" rate showing for the dates I want which would significantly lessen the pain of parting with so much cash.

We all know the rule:

HHonors Members cannot accrue more than 100,000 Base points during one stay, except for Homewood Suites by HiltonŽ hotels for check-in dates on or after January 1, 2006.

With the triple points, HHonors+HHonors double dip, and Gold HHonors 25% bonus, my stay could earn me well over 100K points.

So the way I read this rule, as long as the base points only are below 100K, all other points will accrue to the maximum?

Also if the spending goes above the base point rate of 100K, will it just credit me the 100K as a base rate points "cap" but allow the bonus points to accrue to their maximum value?

I couldn't find any posts specifically addressing this in past threads.

you can earn a maximum of 100k base points but in addition to that you will get all the bonus points that you are entitled to.

The way I understand it - you will get 100,000 base points, but your total bonus points are not affected.

This also brings up another question - do double/tripple points count towards base or do they count as bonus?
