Starwood Preferred Guest - How long does it take for a phone rez to show online?

I recently made a reservation and then had to call and have my starwood number added to the reservation. Do you know how long it takes for the 2 to link up and be able to be shown online?

I know it usually takes HHonors about 90-120 minutes.

Thanks.

Lurker has answered this question (in various forms) previously.

You booked the reservation via phone, which means it might not be visible online.

to paraphrase, booking online is the only way to see the reservation. If reservation booked online, is altered by someone at SPG or at a hotel, it might not be visible online anylong.

Your experience might be different.

That stinks. Really? So, there's no way to view the reservation or upgrade possibilities?

If your reservation is made by phone, it will usually show up anywhere between a few hours and the next day. I have found out that when they need to do something special (supervisor approval for a rate, etc..) it will show up the next day. When you log into your account it should be listed in "My Stays"...

From that point, it usually takes a day or so before you can make any changes to it online.

I recently called SPG to book an award stay. The reservation appeared online within minutes of the phone call ending. ^

Hi MikeyZBT

You may like to send me more details on your upcoming stay through a PM in this case.

Do include the following:
1. Confirmation number
2. Period of stay
3. Name of hotel
4. Regular email address.

I can forward a confirmation email to you.

Thank you and have a nice day!

I had a similar experience - mine showed up online before I hung up the phone. But, I also had a few questions for the res. agent when we were done, so... YMMV.

The last 5 or 6 reservations appeared online < 2 seconds. They were on spg.com before I received an e~mail from spg's reservations system. I often switch from one property to another when my corporate rate becomes available, so I wait for the reservation agent to confirm the new reservation prior to cancelling the other. Once they say it is confirmed, I cancel the original rez, about the same time they say, "Hey, CaptainG, did you know you have a reservation at this other property in the same city."
By the time I tell them to look again, they see it as cancelled, and their new reservation appears on spg.com This is with paid rates (not pre-paid and not award stays). Award stays take some time (I assume starbase has to query the point balance of the member and to save processor load on the CPU, they don't update as often). Pre-paid rates often take a few hours to show up correctly, and sometimes when they do show up immediately, they will show a different rate and different room-type for half-a-day until starbase query's the master room availability list (wherever that is held) and synchronizes with that).

Not in every instance. Most of the time, the stay will be visible in "My Stays", but when you go to click on "See Details", it sends you over to the "Find Stays" page instead of displaying the stay details.

The only way I know to see stay details 100% of the time is to make your reservation online.

The system is ridiculous and I don't want to rehash it.

The only time you are guaranteed to not find it online (that I know of!) is when you have the representative use points to upgrade your stay. So if it is 12,000 points per night and you have a reservation at 14,500 per night in a Junior Suite, you will never see it on the website.

The problem is that if anything happens to the reservation, you're dead. I always print up my reservations before leaving on a trip. If I've misplaced the original, I have to call Starwood and ask them to resend the email to me to use as a confirmation. It's nuts but that's the way it is!

Sometimes, when I make a phone rez (infrequently) or need to have points adjusted (more often), I'll click "refresh" while still on the line with SPG and it will appear before I hang up! ^

The system is ridiculous and I don't want to rehash it.But, then you do.

Hi everyone,

Just a gentle reminder. Most reservations through a third party, be it a website or a travel agent, may not appear on your web account. Even though you have added your SPG number with a follow-up call, that does not guarantee that it will be updated into your web account.

As such, if you have booked through a third party and you would like to have a confirmation as well, the best thing is to.... contact your nearest Reservation Office and... ask for a confirmation email to be sent to your regular email address.

Thank you and have a nice day!
