Are you signed up for the 250/$25.00 dine bonus? Could that be what this is? sdsearch Feb 27, 08, 8:57 am Anyone know what this bonus is for? 01/31/08 DINING THANK YOU BONUS 500 This just showed up on my wife's AA acount. I got one too! I wouldn't have realized if you hadn't mentioned, because it's also attributed to 01/31/08, and it's buried among oodles of other dining stuff that posted this morning (most of it way higher up the list). It's not a day on which I did a $25 dine, it's not the same as my "min $150 spend" AA-elite bonus (that was attributed with different wording 01/30/08), and while it's the day that the $25 dine promo started, it's not the day I registered. dstan Feb 27, 08, 9:52 am Anyone know what this bonus is for? 01/31/08 DINING THANK YOU BONUS 500 This just showed up on my wife's AA acount. It's your AA elite (GLD/PLT/EXP) bonus for spending over $150 in one month :) <edited to add: Maybe NOT - read on!> A bonus Bonus - where did it come from? And yes, she is signed up for the 250 bonus, but this one posts differently. ZeppoX Feb 27, 08, 11:48 am It's your AA elite (GLD/PLT/EXP) bonus for spending over $150 in one month :) A bonus Bonus - where did it come from? The closest I've come to that was $146 in January. Perhaps they rounded it up for me, which would be a nice feature. 236Dakota Feb 27, 08, 11:54 am Again, this is listed as a "Thank you bonus", not as an elite bonus and my wife is not an elite. kebosabi Feb 27, 08, 12:06 pm In addition to the 500 mi bonus for the $150 in January, I also got a "Dining - Thank You Bonus" for 500 mi as well. Anyone know what this is? Not that I'm complaining though ;) georgepds Feb 27, 08, 12:54 pm In addition to the 500 mi bonus for the $150 in January, I also got a "Dining - Thank You Bonus" for 500 mi as well. Anyone know what this is? Not that I'm complaining though ;) No clue... but I got the same (AA) __G dstan Feb 27, 08, 1:50 pm OK, sorry, appears I may be incorrect as kebosabi reported in one of the other threads that this was an additional 500 mi bonus (not the AA elite bonus)... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?p=9324550#post9324550 tarheel99 Feb 27, 08, 2:42 pm I got the 500 mile "Thank You" bonus as well and immediately came here to see if anyone knew why. ZeppoX Feb 28, 08, 5:01 am There's further discussion of this 500-mile mystery over in the please-post-bonuses thread. Perhaps those posts should be moved to this thread. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=452201&page=15 Edit: Checking my account on aa.rewardsnetwork.com, there's a message that references this as "valued member thank you miles." Curiously, the message's column with the credit card partial number cites the credit card with which I originally registered for idine years ago, a card that no longer exists and no longer is registered. soundgarden Feb 28, 08, 2:29 pm I got the 500 mile "Thank You" bonus as well and immediately came here to see if anyone knew why. Me too. I have no status, for the record, but did receive the 500 miles. dstan Feb 28, 08, 3:27 pm Another datapoint - Mrs. dstan, who is a new member as of Dec 07, did NOT receive this bonus. I was intrigued by ZeppoX's post about this being credited under an old card and mine was posted under a card I haven't used since last summer. Perhaps this is a hint. How long have those receiving the bonus been members vs those who have not received it? Cornroaster Feb 28, 08, 5:00 pm Both Mrs Cornroaster and I received the bonus. We both have been in AA IDine for several years, but neither of us has ever had any status on AA itself. majikTib Feb 29, 08, 7:40 am Maybe this will help: I am an elite/VIP member on iDine because of my dozens of Dines in 2007. I have NOT had any iDine activity in 2008, at all. I do NOT hold any elite status with AA. I received the 500 "Thank You" miles for 1/31/08. I have used my Citi Platinum World MasterCard for all iDines. Maybe they're throwing bonus miles out there to encourage iDine activity? Since the change in miles per $ I have had no ambition to go out of my way for iDines, even the 250mile bonus didn't push me. Maybe others have done the same as well? oldpenny16 Feb 29, 08, 8:37 am Elites are still getting the same miles per $ if you do the survey. I've gotten a huge heap of IDine AA miles in the past week. They are posting very quickly. atxtraveler Feb 29, 08, 10:19 am Since the change in miles per $ I have had no ambition to go out of my way for iDines, even the 250mile bonus didn't push me. Maybe others have done the same as well? Not sure what the difference is.... they still give you 10 miles per dollar, just like always, they only ask that you contribute back a survey to receive them. Sounds only fair. dstan Feb 29, 08, 11:23 am I have used my Citi Platinum World MasterCard for all iDines. I don't think the credit card you use matters for this one - My mystery bonus credited under my US Airways CC number. Based on what we've heard so far, I'm guessing that this is either for folks who've been members for a while (at least before Dec 07) or for iDine/RN Elite/VIP's. Have any NON-iDine elites received the bonus? margarita girl Feb 29, 08, 12:40 pm I am Elite with I-dine, have been a member since 2004, and have not received this Thank You Bonus. :( Have had multiple dines since the beginning of the year. JY1024 Feb 29, 08, 2:55 pm I've been Elite with Idine for several years, but do not have status with any airline. (So it's not the plat/exp bonus) Got the 500 in my account a few days ago, and also haven't seen anything in my inbox telling me what it is. But I'm not complaining. :) JDiver Feb 29, 08, 5:27 pm 1/31/08 ... VALUED MEMBER THANK YOU MILES ...AMEX - XXXXX .... $0.00 500 mile(s)... 2/26/08 The mystery deepens... and the AAdvantage Elite bonus is ongoing (through 28 Feb 2009, anyway._ AA Special Offer (for EXP): Advantage DiningSM By Rewards NetworkSM 500 Bonus Miles Each Month Earn 500 bonus miles every month that you spend $150 or more at any of the thousands of restaurants nationwide that participate in the AAdvantage Dining program. A one-time bonus registration is required.: OTOH, now that we have been renamed (from "elite" to "VIP") you don't think... iris30 Mar 7, 08, 8:43 pm Hmmm...I got this bonus also and wondered what it was. I've been elite with idine for a couple of years but haven't spent over $150 in a month. I'll gladly take the miles though! bob12403 Mar 19, 08, 11:31 am This just showed up in email---apparently the 500 miles was a targeted bonus: A special gift for select AAdvantage DiningSM members—500 AAdvantage® bonus miles. Dear bob12403, Guess what? We recently put 500 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles in your AAdvantage DiningSM account! Was it a mistake? Was it because you registered for one of our AAdvantage DiningSM bonuses? Or was it just because we like you? It's really none of the above. (Although we do like you. A lot.) But what we really like is the way you participated in the AAdvantage DiningSM program last year. The 500 AAdvantage® bonus miles are our way of saying Thank You, and of reminding you to join us for lunch and dinner in 2008, too. After all, what could be easier than earning American Airlines AAdvantage® miles for something you already do anyway. Getting hungry? Check out participating restaurants in your neighborhood or near the office now. And please allow 4–6 weeks for the AAdvantage® bonus miles to post to your account. Enjoy! FYI, those bonus miles posted back in January. And I had a total of 12 dines in 2007. JY1024 Mar 19, 08, 11:55 am I just got the same email today too...now at least we know it wasn't an "accident" - but still not sure if/how they chose to target the bonus. Oh well, I'm not complaining... :) JDiver Mar 19, 08, 2:48 pm Got it! ^ AA may not know why I fly, but iDine knows why I eat. ;) Or, this is sweetness before they drop the hammer April 1 and we are left bereft with five miles per dollar. :td: Jailer Mar 20, 08, 12:29 pm ...Or, this is sweetness before they drop the hammer April 1 and we are left bereft with five miles per dollar. :td: While I appreciated the 500 valued member miles, it would blow if the 5 + 5 goes away. I swear I read somewhere that it was extended to 6/30/08, but now I can’t find any mention of that. Is this just wishful thinking on my part? Jailer Mar 20, 08, 10:25 pm In the Idine bonus thread: Thanks to sdsearch for this: So far I've noticed this only at Alaska, but I would expect it to show at others soon too. (Except Continental, where it's not been there in the first place, so it can't be "extended'.) "VIP Rate Your Dine Bonus Extended Earning 10 miles per dollar is a piece of cake for VIP Dining members. Simply complete a short online survey after each qualified dine 1/1/08 - 6/30/08 and we'll award you an extra 5 miles per dollar on your entire bill - tax and tip included. Bonus is open to VIP Dining members only." So, I'm optimistic that AA will extend as well. technique Mar 24, 08, 8:44 pm Just curious how many people got this bonus, I received the email March 19: _________________________ Dear Technique, Guess what? That explains the 500 mile bonus people were getting, (thinking it was the elite bonus for $150 monthly spending). oldpenny16 Mar 27, 08, 7:43 am According to my AA IDine account I was just awarded another 500 AA miles on March 25 as a bonus. I now have about 12,000 IDine AA miles year to date! My lifetime AA IDine miles represent about 5% of all my AA miles. This is not shabby folks! |
