This just showed up on my wife's AA acount.
I got one too! I wouldn't have realized if you hadn't mentioned, because it's also attributed to 01/31/08, and it's buried among oodles of other dining stuff that posted this morning (most of it way higher up the list).

It's not a day on which I did a $25 dine, it's not the same as my "min $150 spend" AA-elite bonus (that was attributed with different wording 01/30/08), and while it's the day that the $25 dine promo started, it's not the day I registered.

Anyone know what this bonus is for?

I got this bonus, too, and have not gone over $150 in months. The closest I've come to that was $146 in January. Perhaps they rounded it up for me, which would be a nice feature.

Again, this is listed as a "Thank you bonus", not as an elite bonus and my wife is not an elite.:confused:

OK, sorry, appears I may be incorrect as kebosabi reported in one of the other threads that this was an additional 500 mi bonus (not the AA elite bonus)...

Checking my account on aa.rewardsnetwork.com, there's a message that references this as "valued member thank you miles." Curiously, the message's column with the credit card partial number cites the credit card with which I originally registered for idine years ago, a card that no longer exists and no longer is registered.

Me too. I have no status, for the record, but did receive the 500 miles.

Another datapoint - Mrs. dstan, who is a new member as of Dec 07, did NOT receive this bonus. I was intrigued by ZeppoX's post about this being credited under an old card and mine was posted under a card I haven't used since last summer. Perhaps this is a hint. How long have those receiving the bonus been members vs those who have not received it?

Both Mrs Cornroaster and I received the bonus. We both have been in AA IDine for several years, but neither of us has ever had any status on AA itself.

Maybe this will help:
I am an elite/VIP member on iDine because of my dozens of Dines in 2007.
I have NOT had any iDine activity in 2008, at all.
I do NOT hold any elite status with AA.
I received the 500 "Thank You" miles for 1/31/08.
I have used my Citi Platinum World MasterCard for all iDines.

Maybe they're throwing bonus miles out there to encourage iDine activity? Since the change in miles per $ I have had no ambition to go out of my way for iDines, even the 250mile bonus didn't push me. Maybe others have done the same as well?

Elites are still getting the same miles per $ if you do the survey.

Not sure what the difference is.... they still give you 10 miles per dollar, just like always, they only ask that you contribute back a survey to receive them. Sounds only fair.

I have used my Citi Platinum World MasterCard for all iDines.

I don't think the credit card you use matters for this one - My mystery bonus credited under my US Airways CC number. Based on what we've heard so far, I'm guessing that this is either for folks who've been members for a while (at least before Dec 07) or for iDine/RN Elite/VIP's.

Have any NON-iDine elites received the bonus?

I am Elite with I-dine, have been a member since 2004, and have not received this Thank You Bonus. :(

Have had multiple dines since the beginning of the year.

I've been Elite with Idine for several years, but do not have status with any airline. (So it's not the plat/exp bonus)

Got the 500 in my account a few days ago, and also haven't seen anything in my inbox telling me what it is. But I'm not complaining. :)

FYI, those bonus miles posted back in January. And I had a total of 12 dines in 2007.

I just got the same email today too...now at least we know it wasn't an "accident" - but still not sure if/how they chose to target the bonus. Oh well, I'm not complaining... :)

While I appreciated the 500 valued member miles, it would blow if the 5 + 5 goes away. I swear I read somewhere that it was extended to 6/30/08, but now I can’t find any mention of that. Is this just wishful thinking on my part?

So far I've noticed this only at Alaska, but I would expect it to show at others soon too. (Except Continental, where it's not been there in the first place, so it can't be "extended'.)

I received that email. That explains the 500 mile bonus people were getting, (thinking it was the elite bonus for $150 monthly spending).

According to my AA IDine account I was just awarded another 500 AA miles on March 25 as a bonus.

I now have about 12,000 IDine AA miles year to date!

My lifetime AA IDine miles represent about 5% of all my AA miles.

This is not shabby folks!
