US Airways Dividend Miles - Bulk Head Seats

Does anyone know when bulk head seats are released? Can preferred book them like exit rows, at the time of reservation?

It seems that recently the Express -- atleast Republic--bulkheads are available for preferreds at booking. Not sure about mainline; I've had mixed experience calling the pref desk and asking for them. I can't recall one ever being available at the airport.

Mainline are Gate released only now

They used to open up after midnight on day prior to departure - but that may have changed as I haven't looked at that recently.

I don't know about the smaller regional planes, but usually the bulkheads open up on the day of departure (after midnight). If you check flights leaving tomorrow they will be blocked. Check the same flight for today and they are unblocked.

I usually can get the bulkhead row when I check-in online (ie. within 24 hrs of the flight), but no earlier than that on domestic flights.

They were, however, reserved for elites on the transatlantic flights I'm taking next month. I was able to reserve them once my FF # and status were in my reservation.

I could always get bulkhead row when I did online check in.

Bulkhead rows on mainline flights open up within 24 hours of departure. Always there when I do OLCI. And additionally, the previously preferred-only exit seats become available to general passengers too.
