Lalala, Owlchick, and I will be walking in the Breast Cancer 3 Day - Benefitting Susan G. So please join us after the closing ceremonies for a celebratory dinner. We promise not to ask for footrubs during dinner. (After dinner, however, all bets are off ;) )

I've made reservations at Maximiliens for Sunday Supper (http://www.maximilienrestaurant.com/dinner/sunday/index.html) on Sept 14, 2008. 7:30 p.m. Who's in?

Cheering Stations
Cheering Stations are a great way to show your support along the route to encourage walkers and let them know that you are with them every step of the way. Seeing familiar faces cheering them on can provide that extra burst of energy that gets them to take that next step or go the next mile. Create banners, hold up signs, bring some music and make some noise - anything to make them smile, get energized and keep walking.

You should definitely give it a go. They have vans to pick up walkers that need to take breaks along the way.

Missy, I'm checking to see if my office is putting together a team as I'm also going to be on the walk (http://08.the3day.org/goto/owlchick); this'll be my first time. If we don't, I'll look for your team instead!

Give up the $10 you would spend on Starbucks while waiting in the airport :D

Donate the coins found under the cushions in the dirty seats on UA (unless the FA got there first!)

I don't think so. Those rules are determined by the individual company, and not the 3-day.

I need to get the paper donation form scanned so those with company match can print it.

Now you'll just have to convince some of your coworkers to donate ;)

On each of our personal pages, there's a link that says something like, "If you cannot donate via the web" that should open a form to print out and mail in with donations.

It probably doesn't help with it after-the-fact, but maybe if you printed the form and presented it with your charge statement, it at leasts demonstrates that you do indeed have proof that you donated?

Thanks for all the kind donations so far. I'm really bad about asking for money or selling stuff, but every dollar you all pledge to all of us is really helpful. I would love to see this become an annual event for Flyertalk. Even if we moved it around year to year. I would be happy to travel to almost anywhere to do this kind of event.

Last year, Missy and I made a pledge to participate in a walking event each month. We ended up in all time zones of the US except for Hawaii and met flyertalkers at all the time zones we traveled to. It was tons of fun (well maybe not the 13th mile).

I'm looking forward to doing some more training walks with Missy and Owlchick and seeing some flyertalkers at the end and at dinner.

For those of you who have emailed me asking what else you can do -- if you are Seattle based or just stopping by and want to get together and walk - let's do it. We can always walk between bars.

Beginning of April update:

Our practice walks started about three weeks (give or take) ago and have been fabulous!

Weather in the Seattle area has mostly been cooperating with our schedule, although we did do six laps around the interior of Bellevue Square one night when it looked like it might be unpleasant outdoors.

Really, anyone in our area can join in the walking when they're in town. :)

My travel schedule is really interesting this year -- by the time we complete our 3 day walk - I will have walked in Greenland, Denmark, Iceland, England, Canada, France and the US. How cool is that?

By the time I get to Greenland - it will be plenty freaking cool.

Ok, Missy's balance hasn't moved for a while so I figured maybe it's time to ante up again. While I'm sure my donation was very modest, if everyone re-donated what they did the first time, she'd make her goal today.

Anyone?

SWEET!

Thanks fireworksboy!

I've been concentrating more on training than fundraising, but I know I need to get back into the money grubbing groove if I'm going to make goal.

Today started the Week 12 countdown to the big event, and my Virtual Personal Trainer email says I need to put in 28 miles this week.

Week 14 I managed at least 31, but last week I only pulled off 16. I also need to re-set my pedometer. I walked on a track yesterday and it was logging between .72 and .78 for every mile I walked

Friendly bump here!

Owlchick and I participated in the Seafair Half Marathon last weekend. We got to walk across the Evergreen floating bridge last Sunday as a change from the regular training schedule and had a blast. Okay, a few of those hills sucked but it was tons of fun and there were bananas left for us at the end. Poor Missy was stuck in Maui eating pineapples and hiking amongst tropical foliage.

10 weeks left to go until we conquer 60 miles in 3 days!

we're famous! - at least if you consider Talkmail coverage fame :)

lalala and I are off on a 3-day "practice" camping weekend on Friday. 2 nights of tent sleeping and 37 miles of walking. It might rain... ugh.

I will throw in one snack pack that expired August 1 from Alaska Airlines. It still looks fine.

Seriously, we would love to make our goal targets and that is not just missy, but owlchick and myself.

I think we should also have a survival dinner on Wednesday, September 17 as well - this would be after the aches & pains have surfaced and hopefully gone away fro the most part with the recovery process in process :D ... not to mention that I can't make Sunday, but will in town during the week.

I'll leave venue up to the locals if there is interest.

Congrats to the TaTas for doing such an amazing job and raising so much $ for this worthy cause! I was a bit surprised to arrive and see miss missy with her leg up on a chair and all wrapped and then ms. lala with her story of a huge blister! But doing the walk, raising the money, and showing up at dinner - wow - very impressive ladies (owlchick I'm sorry we missed you but congrats!).

What a FUN evening! It was great seeing folks I already know - Mcrt with his recent trip to Kenya; SeaTigger with his recent rant against the TSA (right when Spiff called too! :D), Missydarlin + her +1 who is, as always, gracious and interesting; lala who just cracks me up; and new friends.

Nobbi - you made my weekend! Glad to find somebody else who likes to share wine, food, and your lovely partner Jack (my body feels AMAZING today thanks to his incredible massage!). Penguin and Karen - it was so nice to meet the two of you after exchanging emails (so glad one of us has a memory! ;)) for such a long time.

This was a great evening. Thanks for organizing this Missy and again, congrats!

Greetings from the SEA AS BR. We're on our way back to the Bay Area. Thank you all for such a delightful dinner with old and new friends. Thank you Missy for your dedication to a worthy cause and for bringing us all together. What a great choice for dinner! It was such a nice finish to our anniversary weekend! :p

Thanks for the yummy dinner and conversation and company!

My right little toe is still not speaking to me.

Other than that, things are just hunky dory.

I moblogged to flickr. You can see what happened here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/floraandflying/).

I didn't take too many more exciting pictures. I did get a bunch of emails and texts from my walking buddies who were all reporting in their various injuries.

Man, what a ride...

Thank you.. thank you.. thank you!!

To all those who donated, called to cheer us on, and who joined us for the celebratory dinner last night. (Happy Anniversary Nobbi and Jack)

Special thanks to my fellow Bodacious Tata's for keeping me motivated during training, and my boyfriend for getting up ungodly early every morning, and for picking me up every night for dinner so I didn't have to eat camp food :)

My feet are doing much better than my brain at this point, which is having a hard time getting out of first gear. I have a giant pile of work to get through, then I'll give a better recap and post some photos.

Thanks again!

This was such an interesting and mixed-bag (since I was unable to walk) event for me. I'm really, really happy to have signed up with Missy and Lalala...they made everything so much more fun than it would have been going alone.

Thanks to all y'all who sent support our way :) I'm sorry for missing the dinner, but I was having a crisis of conscience at showing up for just the opening and closing ceremonies. Although, it did occur to me that it would have been awfully awkwardly funny if I'd gotten to the finish line before any of the real walkers! :D

Photos are up on flickr now (http://www.flickr.com/photos/owlchick/sets/72157607307657517/), including Missy's injured foot!

Being injured shouldn't have caused a crisis of conscience! At least you were smart enough to know your limits.. unlike some of those who ended up on stretchers with IV's because they didn't listen to their bodies tell them to stop.

You took some awesome pics!
