I was reminded why I do not check bags when i fly - but that said I am trying to locate my bags. I did not stay in the long line last night so I did not file a missing bag claim which i am now finding out may cause me to enter missing bag nightmare. There appears to be no way to file on line or call anyone to locate my bag and have it sent to me without me driving the hour back to the airport and wasting a nice day....

Question: Does anyone have any suggestions or phone numbers to call? I have call the missing bag call center but they will not help you if you have not physically filed a claim at the airport. They will not even transfer you to a supervisor.....I was very insistent but they will not.

The Customer Relations office is not open on Sunday.

Anyone have a number I can call to try to get help?

Thanks
Tom

Start with the platinum line.

Then pick a deity and pray to it.

Which airport is this? I have the numbers to a few airport baggage offices. I'll PM you if I have one you need.

Thanks for the two numbers - I tried both numbers and let them ring off the hook..Guess no way to get out of losing several hours hanging out in baggage claim office at Logan..I do not know why I am surprised but I was enjoying my experience for the most part with USAIR these last few years - guess I had been lucky.

Thanks again

Good luck. I flew my Mom out for Christmas. It was a direct flight and they lost her bags. After two trips to the baggage office, 5 days, and some self-sleuthing we tracked them down.

If you did not file the claim in person immediately, how do we know you didn't just walk out with it?

Got say what a dumb person does this ? especially a FF !you deserve not to get your luggage back and also to now waste a lot more time on your stupidity, no wonder the staff at the aiports get brassed off with genuine people, you obviously seem to think you are above the rest of population.

And what is to stop someone from getting their luggage and then filing a claim at anytime? Thanks so much for your consideration....Come to think of it, how do I know your are not the customer service agent I spoke with this afternoon - very much the same attitude.

Delayed bags
If your bag is delayed, please notify a US Airways representative before leaving the airport, or within four hours of arrival at your destination.

I would head back to the airport to file the claim. Your bags might still be there since they did not have any claim information for them.

Debbie - thanks for the link to email central mishandled bag division......and thanks for pointing out that USAIRWAYS does NOT require you to complete a form prior to leaving the airport.....they say you can notify them up to four hours after arrival. Unfortunately no USAIR rep will talk to you if you did not complete a missing bag form.

NEVER leave the airport without filing a missing bag claim. chances are you are not going to see this bag again.

sorry.

I too called my Platinum number and was taken back by their attitude. I called their "central baggage" number and could not understand anything they said due to the thick accent.

Any airline that does not list a baggage claim number on their baggage claim website is definitely trying to hide something!

If you lose a bag at AVP, they give you the direct number to their check-in counter (and they answer the phone). Of course, the bag is always sitting in PHL 9 out of 10 times, but it's still a nice customer service feature at our smaller airport.

The poor souls in Reservations aren't being mean about it, they simply don't have the capability of entering your baggage claim at all. Only the airport can open a baggage claim. Calling anyone in reservations will go nowhere. Either will calling customer relations as they too don't have that ability.

The hard fast rule of 4-hours is not without exceptions. It does mean, however, that any total loss will no longer be covered. The airport will, however, file a claim for you even after the 4-hours has passed. Taking a claim over the phone is not within policy guidelines but my experience is they will depending on the agent you get.

As was previously mentioned NEVER leave the airport without filing a claim.

Why on earth did you leave the airport without reporting your baggage as missing? By doing so, you have delayed your missing baggage even further...
