I haven't. Ever.
It's made me fall into a bad habit because I rarely print my coupons and bring them any longer...are there any stations that follow the rules more than others?

I wish this were true for me. I have had them collected 100% of the time, so I guess there is some variation here.

Go they collect them in Florida?
I hope not!

Not once have I have had a returning location not ask for a coupon (ok - double negative!), including times when I had a an e-coupon for extra ZE1 points. In fact, I turned in a free day coupon at LAX week on a corporate rental.

I've had them collect the coupon on every rental I've done except one in FLL. Other than that, everytime. I've even had certain certs that I've had to present prior to picking up the car - so Gold service wasn't even available & I had to go to the counter first.
I think it depends on the coupon and location, as some do, most don't. With the $20 per day AAA from last December, no coupon needed as long as it shows in your confirmation. I have been asked to show the coupon, ORD, BUR, SJU and OAK, at times, but it is always in the record, so they are usually satified with that and able to deal without it.

AAA promotion codes terms and conditions do not require the coupon to be presented: "At the time of rental, present your AAA membership card or Hertz/AAA member discount card for identification ." (my emphasis)
Ironically, I've had to print out the coupon and show that to an agent.
