Travel Technology - Advice using Slingbox through Firewall

There was a day that I was Tech savvy, but It has passed! I can get my box to work in hotels, and on my lappy in Wifi hotspots. But some of my worksites don't seem to let video stream in. CNN's web site streams don't come in either. No, I don't want to watch TV while I work. However, my job sometimes involves significant downtime and It would be nice to watch. Like today -- it's snowing and I may not get home. Any tips? Port ideas?

When I run into that problem I usually hook my laptop to my cell phone to get on my own network.

If the firewall they use is any good, then nothing will help bypass it. They put it in place to make sure you only do boring stuff ;)

I have setup my slingbox on a differant port on my router, port 443 (which is the SSL/HTTPS port which most firewalls allow to pass), which emeliorated most of the firewall issues I was having. You might try that, do you know how to reconfigure your router? If you don't, the wizard will help walk you through it, and even reconfigure the router for your is the UnPNP is setup.
Also, chekcout the forums at slingcommunity.com where this issue is often discussed.

I'll give it a try. Been a while, but I can probably figure that out.
I work shifts in this underground bunker waiting to be called. We get no wireless or TV signals. Someday we may move to a windowed place above ground, but they use all that space for uppidy ups' offices :(
