Qantas Frequent Flyer - Changing dates on QF/BA award?

I am taking my first QF award on BA next month to LON/AMS. QF advised me that changes prior to departure can be made for a miles fee, but..... no changes whatsoever after departure on BA (or AA). Both BA/AA allow changes for their own awards.
Has anyone discovered if this is true in practice? Any ideas/suggestions?
Thanks

If you call QF for the changes, you are likely to be charged points for changes before ticketing and told that changes are not allowed. If you call BA directly for the changes, more than likely the changes will be made without any hassle.
QF get exceedingly cranky about re-ticketing award itineraries after departure -- they do not have to reissue, and won't unless you gently ease them into a sob story -- and even then, you'll usually be up for at least a 5000 points fee. They're paper tickets for BA/AA of course, which adds to the annoyance factor for QF.
Definitely take the advice to have a go through the metal you're on -- BA in this case, before getting your first "no" from Qantas.
It's 2500 points debit for date/time/flight changes before departure without change of ports; 5000 points for changes of ports prior to departure on an award itinerary. Changes of date/flight after departure more likely to be done than change of ports.
Best of luck

We had no problem last month with BA changing dates/co-terminals/flights etc. But yes QF wanted to charge 2500/5000 points.

I have changed dates and flight times for BA flight awards on QF points - done through QF FF reservations. This was not a re-ticketing exercise, it only required an endorsement on the (paper) ticket. No points penalty. I do have QF gold status so I suppose this counts? Certainly for domestic (OZ) tickets I think it may since when changing domestic FF award reservations, I have been told "becasue of your status there is no points penalty..."
