Hilton HHonors - Conrad Shanghai

According to Conrad website (http://conradhotels1.hilton.com/en/ch/brand/newHotels.do#FORTH01), the hotel is scheduled to open in 2008. The hotel is right across street from Xin Tian Di. I just took some pictures of the construction last week:

How can they announce? It is China! they should better wait 1 week before they really know that they can open ;)

Like the Hilton SHA Executive Lounge. When I stayed there end of September I got the letter: we will finish 1st of October, so I thought damn just missed it. Then I came back beginning of December and the construction was still ongoing!!
Does someone know it the lounge is open in Shanghai now??

The bad thing is that after they opened the new lounge they don't allow Diamond members to go to the lounge when they are not upgraded which was allowed the last 2 years...
So when I asked for the lounge access and they say no we started some discussion where I was asking for the emailadress of the GM. :mad:
Then they "considered" to upgrade me to Exec. floor... Even I said, I don't need the room, just the lounge as I will stay here for a few days, now I will get my new room tomorrow and then I will visit the lounge to have a look.
Hope the Conrad is coming soon to have more Hilton choices in Shanghai...

Just learned from some insiders that the construction of Conrad Shanghai has been ceased, because the developer does not have sufficient fund to continue the project. It is also said that the developer already owes a lot of money to suppliers and workers.

No wonder it still looks like what I saw several months ago. I even doubt it could be opened in June 2009.

Any word when it will open in 2010?

Any new developments?

Hoping that it will be open by Feb 2010.
