Hilton HHonors - Both revenue and award booking for same nights at same property

I originally made a paid booking on HH.com for the Doubletree LAX for two nights.

Recently I am resonsidering spending the cash, and went ahead and also made an award booking for those same nights at the same hotel.

I am going to use the next week or so to make a final decision as to paid or award.

Could there be a problem with having these duplicate reservations? Do hotels ever do what airlines do and cross check names on reservations and cancel one if for the same person?

I have had duplicate reservations numerous times and as recently as last week ( also in various combinations such as one reward and one paid booking ) and I currently have 10 + such bookings on hilton.com.

When I am travelling with friends or family its much easier to just cancel the rooms you do not need whenever someone has a change of plans.
