Had a quite bad luggage experience flying SK & SAA on C(I) award via LHR and then SAA Lhr-Jnb-Cpt. Upon arrival in Jnb we waited a long time in the quite chaotic baggage arrival.2 of 3 bags showed up,but not mine. Went to SAA bagage service, very disorganiced place!! Finally a lady took my details and handed me a single paper with my ref number & a tel number to SAA in Jnb. No info about compensation, when I asked I got a reply I should claim SK being the carrier who checked in the luggage, and that I was entitled to $100 a day!?
The following days SAA never bothered to call me, and since I was quite desperate getting clothes & toiletries I called them daily spending usually least 5-10 min in que. Finally 5 days after we arrived SA bag was located in LHR (were else !?!)and arrived in CPT the next day, however story did not end, bag arrived by early midday in CPT still SAA did not deliver it to our hotel in Hermanus until 2230 the following evenig, even though I've called them several times about how keen I was getting ut asap.Usually SAA luggage tracing staff at call cener was not very service minded, I got info the next day I was allowed 75$ of expenses..
Since this was an award cc company claims insurance not valid on award trips. For baggage delay I got new info about compensation, another person told me I would get 75 us$ for necessary expences. However being without baggage for a week is nor very fun on your holiday.
Any advice on how to file complaint in order toget money back.
Would it be only SAA that I should claim,or should it also be possible to claim SK as well as LH who issued the tix

The responsibility lies with the last carrier who brought you to your final destination, so it's SAA.

Yes SAA has a loooong history of bags going missing. Though its usually at JNB and not from places like LHR. Though LHR has been infamous for losing transit passengers' bags. You connected from SK (Terminal 3) to SA (Terminal 1)... and you should have allowed yourself at least 2-3 hours. Anything shorter than that and you're just asking for trouble!
