Hilton HHonors - help--oahu HHV--regarding alon award stay

------I am silver via my hhonors amex.I will be booking 2 rooms one for my mother and myself.The other room will be for my daughter,her husband,and her 4 and 5 yr old daughters.I have enough hhonors pounts for 1 room-180,000---well except for i day ,we will be there a full week april 28 thru may 5.following a renewal of vows for my daughter in phoenix.My problem is that I want to book the ali'i for the paying room,but I am not guaranteed that tower for the alon award.Any experts out there who think they will upgrade the alon to the ali'i tower for this time of your.Would also like to hear comments on booking with amex vs hhonors website as to which is best bang for the buck.I also have AAA.Even if I have to pay for the upgrade difference myself---I need the room to be close so we can share babysitting easily.Thanks

AFAIK, Silver HHonors level does not include any benefits for upgrades.

Several posters on FT have stated that award stays will never be put in the Ali'i tower. We had an award stay and were placed in a 1BR suite in Diamond Head. (we are Diamond which probably helped) Getting a 1BR might actually be better for you with children in your party (kids can sleep in one room while adults enjoy the other room). I know the Ali'i tower gets great reviews, but we had a great time in diamond head tower. Besides, you'll have some extra $ to burn if you don't book the paid room in the most expensive tower. Have a great trip! You all will love HHV. My 8 and 4 year old children had a great time.
