Mr Canuck and I would like to take a weekend trip in mid-April (just Friday night to Sunday night) to celebrate my birthday and our upcoming anniversary. There are several restrictions: (1) we can't leave the US (because we'll be in the middle of a visa application process); and (2) we'd prefer the journey to be short and direct (either train or a flight out of EWR because Mr Canuck works in Princeton). It would be nice to go somewhere that's not cold and to stay in a Hilton family property (as I'm in accumulating and hoarding points for an upcoming trip). I've been to Boston, Mr Canuck has been to Philadelphia and we've both been to Atlanta and Washington DC. Some possibilities we're considering include Providence, RI (are the renovations at the Hilton finished?) and Chicago. Any other suggestions, especially along the Eastern Seaboard? Thanks.

Chicago has the potential to be quite chilly in April...so it you don't want to roll the dice of that one, you might what to avoid it.

Yes, we're concerned about that (we're from Toronto - we know cold and don't need it on this trip). We'd like to visit Chicago (we have friends there) but mid-April might not be the right time to do it.
