On QF 26, LAX/AKL, are any of the window seats in F considered preferable? Thanks

1A/K appeared to be slightly more cramped than the others, but that could have been a misperception on my part.

I have thought that too. I wasn't sure if I was imagining it

Took QF25 home earlier this year on the same route so assuming the equipment is still the same.

The first row does seem cramped - the cabin narrows significantly and you have the coat closet in the nose for company. OTOH, Naomi Campbell allegedly loved 1A as she was able to retain her privacy - far from all them prying eyes in the front - per our FA.

The last row window seats have the baby basinet alongside and a loo behind. Absent a baby, it's a big shelf.

Rows 2 and 3 would thus seem best with the nod going to row 3 for quieter and 2 for a slightly wider aisle.

Anyway you slice it, it ain't bad BUT our outbound (LAX/SYD/MEL) flight had four of us in the front, (two couples) occupying two of the three sets of doubles - rows 2 and 4 - served by four FA's. And yes, the duck from Rockpool was super.

Coming home (BNE/AKL/LAX) was full - all 14 seats/berths were occupied and it neccesarily makes a difference - where one sits being less important than how many one sits with.

Better than steerage, in any case.

My preference 1A or K, and 4 A or K.

For privacy, row 2 A or K are aweful. The seats are set up to where you are practically parallel to the person on the aisle and like was mentioned earlier, the aisle is narrowest there. Row 3 is not much better. The privacy issue could easily be fixed by putting up an 18 inch divider that blocks the view of each passenger's head.

Row 1 A/K have the furtherest width between passengers and are most private. The closet has never been an issue for me.

4A/K as also mentioned before have the baby station which is a great desk and creates a sense of space when not being used as such.

I have seen this discussion alot on many of the international carriers with First Suites. I just took QF First LAX-SYD-LAX a couple of weeks ago.

I think 1A/K are preferable if you are flying alone. They may "seem" a little more cramped (because of the coat closet as people said) but they are exactly the same size as every other seat (all seats are identical due to the requirements of the full recline seat). 1A/K are however clearly the most "private". Flying down right before the Open, Monica Seles was in 1A. Only thing is you will have a lot of activity near your seat before flight and right before landing as closet access is right next to your seat.

If you think the cramped feeling is a problem, then I would go for 3A/K given most of the reasons stated above. 4A/K clearly have the most room because of the shelf, but they are right next to the galley and every once in a while you may be disturbed by the noise.

Bottom line is I am usually more than happy with ANY seat that is in the nose of the plane in a full suite!

Monica Seles, pffft. I am a tennis umpire, I would not look sideways at Seles. The top tennis players are players who I see all the time on court, Agassi v Sampras does not faze me, it is all in a days work.

Now Nicole Kidman on the other hand, or Tom Cruise, or .......

No one notable on my QF segments, but did encounter Pierce Brosnan and that Beatle guy - the one who died recently - in the QF/BA lounge beforehand.

Took me a few minutes to figure out who Brosnan was...I would hear a familiar voice, look up, see no one I recognized, return to reading, hear a familiar voice...lather, rinse, repeat. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

As for the Beatle guy, someone at the time told me his name, but not the musical bit. As a result, I had no clue who he was. Guess I'm not a keen observer of pop culture. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif

Had 2K a few days ago and agree with others that if the cabin is full, row 2 has least privacy. On my flight only 8 pax, so all A and K seat were taken but the centre block was empty. It was very convenient to put my bag under the 2F foot rest and my blanket etc on the 2F seat when I didn't want to use them, keeping my area free of such things.

Have to agree though, that there is no bad seat in first class, and it really does not make much difference. If I was travelling in a group of 3 or 4, then row 2 would be fantastic.

I like 3A,K and 4 A,K since row three gives the most space between you and your neighbour and row 4 has a wonderful baby-changing shelf which can be used for anything depending on your imagination. Row 1 is too cramped IMO and row 2 is too close to your neighbours in the centre. Had a wonderful 9 hour sleep yesterday on QF12 in 4K. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

On a related note, any suggestions as to the "best" seats for a couple traveling together?

All centre seats are fine for this purpose.
