JetBlue TrueBlue - near miss with B6 jet at BOS last night

BOSTON -- The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating a runway incursion that happened at Boston Logan International Airport Thursday night.

Officials said JetBlue Flight 489, an Airbus 320, departing Boston for Long Beach, Cali., aborted its takeoff shortly after 8 p.m. because a Cessna Citation, a C-560, crossed runway 33L as the JetBlue plane was departing the runway.

"We were in a position to respond immediately to the situation. We are working with Boston authorities and the FAA to investigate the incident," JetBlue said in a statement.

The incursion is classified preliminarily as a pilot deviation because the pilot of the Cessna Citation crossed runway 33L without air traffic control authorization.

I thank god everyone is alright because all crashes are not only a tragedy but also, IMHO, avoidable. Even the ones in corners of the world I don't frequent.

I flew out on UA just before that. It was a horrible night with the single runway being used for departures. Glad everything came out alright an disaster was averted.
