Other Middle East and Africa Frequent Flyer Programs - Proposed Census/Sticky: What ME/Africa carriers do you fly?

Fellow forum readers, though the level of discussion in this forum is usually low, would you mind assisting me and maybe FT generally by supporting a poll on your ME/Africa airline FF memberships and patronage?

(Moderators, if possible can we make this into a poll / sticky, for everyone's benefit?)

I'm asking because I'm curious about our current patronage based on the routings, perceptions, loyalties, experiences, FF programs and good deals on the respective carriers.

On a technical note, would you recommend we just list the airlines (in this region) noted in threads in this forum for the past six months?

I'd like to include ALL airlines that fly into the region, if they have been mentioned here. For example, definitely include Emirates plus alliance-based airlines if you use them to fly into the region. Thus if an Aussie flew Qantas to Durban as their preferred carrier (or let's say BA), then include these airlines.

What are your thoughts?

See it all went down hill when GF pulled out of Sydney:D

I do, however, think with the arab carriers enjoying unconditional subsidisation(read EK, EY and QR) and thus growing like aggressive malignant cancers with the mets(medical talk for spreading everywhere) ..there should be a whole lot more talk going on.

For one, my ME travel has ceased for time being so I haven't much to say, other than using all my GF points on VS and AA and QF domestics/NZ's...which each have their own forums.

I can say regarding EY that all staff now have to stand when James Hogan enters the room(could you imagine him getting away with that in Australia??)

Also the cabin crew are all on verge of nervous breakdowns with the new service being offered in F and J on long haul routes; their objective is to reach the coveted '5 Star' airline level very very soon. So if your on EY in premium cabins spare a thought for the crew and make sure your CPR skills are up to date...they may just need you more than you need them!::p

Over n out

CJ:)

EK Emirates
EY Etihad
GF Gone .... (oops) Gulf Air

(I hope GF hasn't extinguished my FF and miles, so I can buy AA tix - or, shock horror, find a GF flight to take me somewhere, like from AUH-BEY! :D)

While I appreciate your general approach, I do not really see the need to make this a "sticky" thread.

Mostly QR and ME for me to be honest. ME to Europe and some destination in the Middle East/Africa and QR to India and the Far East.

GF for me. The LHR-BAH-BKK-BAH-LHR option has been very good to me as I travel regularly between LHR & BKK (and my miles balance in their FFP;)) Try using BA miles on that route! Despite some service glitches (one or two v. painful) I like GF and truly hope they succeed. The redemption options are very good too via VS & AA () if that floats one's boat, though it's been used upgrading the BKK sectors to F for me (cannot stand the old biz seats on the A340s). Some of their promos have been stellar too!

I've flown Emirates and Etihad in the past. I would consider flying Air Arabia or Jazeera if I really needed to fly cheaply, but the direct flights on EK/ EY would trump that in most instances.
