is it possible to book a refundable ticket just to see the seat map and then cancel the flight after seeing availability? are there any restrictions on the refundable fares?

However, just know that credit card companies often debit from the card immediately, and process credits a bit slower (even if B6 processes it right away). Also, some of the seats available to you when you purchase a refundable fare aren't available to most of the lower priced non-refundable fares, so you can't assume that your options will be the same (there's a post somewhere on the forum that says exactly which seats are blocked for higher paying fares). caphis Feb 11, 08, 10:29 pm That's possible, yes. If you've got the money to do so, that is. Make sure to book it online, though. The $10 phone fee isn't refundable. sbm12 Feb 12, 08, 7:44 am Haha, that's certainly a way to see the seatmap 'before' booking. My experience with refundable fares on other carriers is that the CC company issues an authorization immediately, but that the carrier and the CC company wait a bit to actually process the transactions as they know there are some that cancel immediately and whatnot. This saves a bit of transaction processing effort on both sides. precision80 Feb 12, 08, 6:26 pm Haha, that's certainly a way to see the seatmap 'before' booking.
