Hilton HHonors - Hampton Inn Vancouver, BC

Planning a 3-night visit in Vancouver late June before a cruise. Have you stayed at this property before? There will be 3 sharing a room obtained with points for 2 of the nights, will have to pay for the additional night. Any tips for making best use of points? Is this area good for exploring the city? Thanks for all input :D

Just a headsup. The hotel was going under some renovation at least in late December which took one (of the two) elevators out of service so it could take a long time to get to and from your floor at busy times. You'll also be subject to a lot of construction noise on weekdays. I understand this has something to do with the gym (and pool?) on the top (13th?) floor. Hopefully it'll be all done by June if not already.

Don't know about construction inside the HI, but they're building a new Hilton right next door, so I would expect construction noise. However, there's construction going on almost everywhere in Vancouver right now, with the 2010 Winter Olympics getting closer.

That said, I've heard very good things about the HI. We haven't stayed there only because business requires us to stay at a different location. HI is right across from GM Place hockey arena. I'd estimate a 10-15 minute walk to Canada Place convention center (where the cruise ships dock) and a good 25-30 minute walk to Stanley Park. If the weather is good, Vancouver is a lovely city to walk through, especially by the waterfront.
