Win 8 free tickets on JetBlue (http://www.newsfromthesky.com/newsfromthesky/2008/02/happy-8th-anniv.html)
JetBlue TrueBlue - 8th Anniversary promotion: free flight on JetBlue for you and eight friendsView Full Version : 8th Anniversary promotion: free flight on JetBlue for you and eight friends reidlewis Feb 11, 08, 9:30 am Win 8 free tickets on JetBlue (http://www.newsfromthesky.com/newsfromthesky/2008/02/happy-8th-anniv.html) reidlewis Feb 11, 08, 10:13 am Sorry, to clarify it's win 8 free tickets - one for you and seven of your friends. xanthuos Feb 11, 08, 10:44 am Wow - talk about restrictions! The JetBlue Airways Travel Authorization Letter is valid for travel anywhere JetBlue Airways flies between May 1, 2008 and February 11, 2009 with the exception of the following blackout dates: between June 20, 2008 and September 1, 2008; between November 21, 2008 and December 1, 2008; and between December 19, 2008 and January 5, 2009. NO summer travel whatsoever. No more than two (2) Travel Authorization Letters may be redeemed for the same flight on the same day. Looks like you can't go on vacation with the 7 friends & family you name on your entry. You can travel with only ONE other person, at the most (provided one of the other 99 Grand Prize winners and THEIR guests don't book the flight(s) you want). Each Grand Prize consists of one (1) round-trip coach air transportation Travel Authorization Letter for travel between any two JetBlue Airways destinations (“Travel Authorization Letter””) for the Grand Prize Winner... The JetBlue Airways Travel Authorization Letter is valid for travel anywhere JetBlue Airways flies. Does this mean that unlike TrueBlue awards, you can use it to fly between ANY two destinations on JetBlue (even if it ends up requiring a stopover) such as Austin to Aruba? Since the awards aren't transferable, your friends & family can't use their flight award to book you somewhere, which is unfortunate. The only thing YOU win is ONE R/T flight, with the possibility of traveling with ONE of your listed guests. davidmay Feb 11, 08, 10:48 am to me the annoying thing is being asked to provide the names of the seven other people; they want complete names and email addresses, which makes the whole thing seem more like a marketing exercise than a sweepstakes. davidmay Feb 11, 08, 10:52 am oh, also, all seven of the friends/family members have to be over 18... given that no more than two can travel together on a given flight, I suppose it wouldn't have worked well for a family in any case, though! j3823x Feb 11, 08, 11:15 am to me the annoying thing is being asked to provide the names of the seven other people; they want complete names and email addresses, which makes the whole thing seem more like a marketing exercise than a sweepstakes. I know, its the same thing I thought when I saw it too. When I saw the need to offer up names and e-mail addresses of friends/relatives I promptly closed the window. B6 has certainly changed to a "lets make this work for us and if we can squeeze something in for the customer, great" mentality. Seat13c Feb 11, 08, 11:41 am If I'm not mistaken, all 8 people also required to have TrueBlue Gratitude accounts also. I haven't signed up for this yet (not sure if I will) but out of the 7 other people I would put down, I am only sure of 3 people in the fact that they do have accounts. smmrfld Feb 11, 08, 12:28 pm Asking for names and contact info for others...gimme a break. No thanks. xanthuos Feb 11, 08, 12:32 pm If I'm not mistaken, all 8 people also required to have TrueBlue Gratitude accounts also. I haven't signed up for this yet (not sure if I will) but out of the 7 other people I would put down, I am only sure of 3 people in the fact that they do have accounts. Persons named in your entry do not have to have TrueBlue accounts at the time of entry. They will only be required to join TrueBlue if your entry is selected as a winner and they wish to claim their subsequent prize. I agree with others though, that it is a moronic promotion to need to offer up your friends contact information. It'd be perfect if they just gave 100 winners 8 free R/T flights so they could use them as they see fit, even with the WHOLE summer blacked out. hobo13 Feb 11, 08, 12:34 pm Possbily the most moronic promotion I've seen in a while... Sorry, you obviously haven't seen United's Team Elite Choice competition or Northwest's Great Race. In terms of most ridiculous promotions currently running, I'm afraid that JetBlue finds itself in third place..... ;) dinosims Feb 11, 08, 4:00 pm To clarify: ** We will not send your friends unwanted emails or sell their email addresses. We only need their emails to let them know they may receive a gift if you win. jetBlueNYFL Feb 11, 08, 4:38 pm I actually like this promo/contest. It's all about spreading that jetBlue experience on the 8th birthday. Less people on here entering, greater odds of me winning ^ smmrfld Feb 11, 08, 10:34 pm I actually like this promo/contest. Why does this not surprise me? smmrfld Feb 11, 08, 10:36 pm To clarify: In other words, they're going to spam every name you provide. There's no other way to read that "clarification". jetBlueNYFL Feb 12, 08, 12:06 am Why does this not surprise me? I don't know what that's supposed to mean, but what's there not to like about a FREE FLIGHT GIVEAWAY? OK, so the fact that not every flight is for the winner might not be incredible - but it's still something. I remember for the 5th birthday, one lucky winner got free flights for 5 years. Look at it this way...more people win a smaller prize this year. Is it their best promo/contest ever? No. Is it good? Yes, why not? j3823x Feb 12, 08, 12:20 am In other words, they're going to spam every name you provide. There's no other way to read that "clarification". Sure looks like it. xanthuos Feb 12, 08, 4:29 am To clarify: ** We will not send your friends unwanted emails or sell their email addresses. Yes, however section 10 of the official rules state: USE OF INFORMATION: The information that you provide in connection with the Sweepstakes may be used by Sponsor in accordance with its Privacy Policy, which is found at www.jetblue.com/privacy.html and which maybe updated from time to time. In other words, they're going to spam every name you provide. There's no other way to read that "clarification". Seems like they just might. |
