I was wondering if this situation happened to others on this board.
I use a corporate ID when booking at a HGI close to my office headquarters. I have been doing so since 2006.
In 2006, everything went smoothly: I would book online using the corporate account, get a great rate and my HHonors points would be posted in full within a week after my stay.
In 2007, everything went wrong: I would still get the same great rate, but would never get my points posted. Each time, I would have to phone HHonors and spend a while on the phone explaining the situation. Often, I would be told that points could not be credited due to the rate I received. I would be asked how I booked the hotel ("did you book through Expedia?", etc.). I would tell them that no, I used hilton.com. In the end, the agent would speak with his/her supervisor and credit my points.
Now that we are in 2008, things are better but not quite right: this time I got my bonus points (50% + 25% Gold VIP), but my base points were 0. I called the local HGI accounting manager and she had to fax paperwork to HHonors in order to fix the issue. She told me that this issue will likely occur each time I stay at this HGI. For my next stays, she suggested that I book with my corporate ID as usual, but then call her directly so she will change the code in my reservation so I can get my points in full.
My question is: did that occur with any of you before? Why is this so complicated, and most importanly, why can't Hilton fix this?
