Online Travel Booking and Bidding Agencies - Priceline will add $5/day to my bid ???
In my priceline offer section (never noticed this before) I see a promo where priceline will add $5/day to my bid up to X days.
Does this mean that if I would normally bid $13/day (just won a car at that rate) that I should bid $8/day instead?

Isn't there an explanation in some little print somewhere?

No.
At least not from a practical experience perspective. It is easy for PL to say it will add $5 to your bid and then simply program their system to add $5 to the minimum rate.

Forgive me, but I am having difficulty understanding this.
Is the situation such that if I bid, say, $100, and if PL then adds $5, making the amount bid to be $105, and if the bid is successful, that:
(1) I will then be billed by PL for a total of $105 plus tax? OR
(2) Will I then be billed $100 plus tax, with PL making the bid count as much as if I had bid $105, but then not actually billing me for the added $5?
IF (and that is a BIG IF) the offer is "bonus money" like has been offered in the past, then your #2 is correct. The way to make sure it is not #1 is to double check your final confirmation screen (and perhaps save a copy of it or print it) before hitting the "Submit My Bid" button. I seem to recall, although don't remember the specifics of it, where Priceline once actually raised someone's bid amount to something else automatically. I believe this was a couple years ago, IIRC.
I had the same bonus. I simply bid lower by the amount of the bonus. A $20 bonus for a week of rental car is $2.86 per day, which they round up to $3. Thus the bid was $16 per day and I paid $13 per day. On the down side, the price has come down and had I waited the bid would be $12 and I would have paid $9 (They often disclose the minimum bid for a car when you get a hotel bid accepted).
