How does QF First compare to other carriers First? I know their seats in BUS are the same as BAs. What about First. As good as BAs?
Qantas Frequent Flyer - Qantas First classView Full Version : Qantas First class FoxPro Mar 20, 00, 4:05 am How does QF First compare to other carriers First? I know their seats in BUS are the same as BAs. What about First. As good as BAs? Markie Mar 20, 00, 10:46 pm I flew BA and QF last year in F on two long trips (SYD-LAX & LHR-BKK on QF, LHR-DXB-LHR on BA). I'd say that the BA beds are more private - which as I'm English I like - and the BA service is more formal. The QF beds are more open - aussie - I guess and I think there are more of them. The only row I liked on the 744 on QF was row one as otherwise the people in the middle are overlooking you. The QF service was nice because it was relaxed and the staff were chatty - oh and QF have windows in their loos - which is novel if nothing else! Kunoichi Mar 20, 00, 11:29 pm I'm pretty new at this Qantas stuff, but I actually have some Qantas FFP ... and after this holiday, I'll have 30000 QFFP. Now... how does one get to fly business or first class, on Qantas, without paying business or first class prices? Get enough flights on you to get one of those tier levels (as if I'm even going to get to blue before my 10 years is up. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/tongue.gif ) or something else? Can you pay for an upgrade with points? Or do you just have to fork out the cash yourself, to avoid flying cattle class? Thanks... ------------------ Kun-chan... -- http://www.thekeep.org/~kunoichi/ http://www.alladvantage.com/go.asp?refid=AZV640 FoxPro Mar 21, 00, 12:04 am Thanks Markie. I'll try row 1. Kunoichi: business 150%, first 200% of miles needed for award in eco. Upgrades eco -> bus only available on domestic flights. Kunoichi Mar 21, 00, 3:52 am Darn, I can't get an upgrade on my flight to LA, then. Oh, well! 150% of the points for bus, hm? So if I want to fly somewhere for 30000 FFPoints Cattle, then it'd be 75000 for Bus? (I hate maths!) and 90000 for First? I've got a way to go yet. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/tongue.gif Thanks! ^_^ ------------------ Kun-chan... -- http://www.thekeep.org/~kunoichi/ http://www.alladvantage.com/go.asp?refid=AZV640 FoxPro Mar 21, 00, 5:01 am Kunoichi: Better consult a calculator before you book. Here a prebuild example. 30.000eco/45.000bus/60.000first. SYD-LAX would be 60.000/90.000/120.000. Kunoichi Mar 21, 00, 4:40 pm Oh, I thought you ment extra, and added it on to the 30000. *smacks herself in the forehead* Thanks for clearing that up. ^_^ (See? If you take away the 30000 from my two figures, I got it right! ^^;;;; Right?!) ------------------ Kun-chan... -- http://www.thekeep.org/~kunoichi/ http://www.alladvantage.com/go.asp?refid=AZV640 bagold Mar 22, 00, 8:34 pm FoxPro, I would agree with Markie that BA's sleeper seat is definitely more private. Thus row 1 in QF gives you the most privacy. Fyi.. QF and BA have the same sleeper suit but with different logos! I find that the video system on QF is a little better. I always have a hard time forwarding or rewinding BA's tapes. I think their machines are just older. And yes, the loos with a window in QF are quite fun! I actually found the food better on BA. If given the choice between the two, I would take BA over QF, but only just! Actually for business, I think that the BA and QF seats are different. BA is manually operated and QF are electronically operated. Disregarding how they actually work, I feel that I get more room with the BA cradle seats rather than the QF dream seats. I find that the footrest on QF doesn't extend that far, so if you are a tall person, it might cause a problem. I definitely sleep much better on BA business than on QF. As for how it compares against other airline's First Class, it is definitely much better than most airlines, given that many of them haven't switched over to the sleeper seats yet. Maybe SQ is slightly better? I'm going on the CX new Betsy sleeper seats later this week for the first time... I will let you know how that compares to QF. [This message has been edited by bagold (edited 03-22-2000).] FoxPro Mar 22, 00, 11:23 pm bagold: Thanks for the details. I am really looking forward to my QF F now. I am sure that you will enjoy your next trip on Cathay. I personally rate them as the best. Regarding the biz seats on QF/BA. I thought I had the exact same cradle seats on my last BA 777 flight from BOS-LHR as I had on QF FRA-SYD. But I might confuse that a bit. bagold Mar 23, 00, 12:38 am FoxPro, Hope you have a good flight on QF as well. I personally think that all these airlines with the new beds are so much better than what they used to offer that I always look forward to them! FoxPro Mar 23, 00, 1:53 am I what I nearly don't dare to tell is that this seemingly very nice flight will be all on miles. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif bagold Mar 27, 00, 5:06 am FoxPro, I think that is great that you can do all this on miles!!! Just like most of us, that means you have traveled a lot just to get a free 1st class ticket! Have fun!! FoxPro Mar 27, 00, 4:09 pm bagold: I guess half of the miles needed for these flights came from promotions. So this is really the time to thank all members on this forum for sharing information. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif My personal itinerary for the next couple of months is all on miles and all in F: QF SYD-BUE (100.000) LH BUE-FRA (240.000, LH part 1) LH FRA-SIN (LH part 2) QF SIN-SYD ( 60,000) QF SYD-SIN ( 60,000) LH SIN-FRA (LH part 3) LH FRA-BUE (LH part 4) LH BUE-SCL (LH part 5) and then start buying tickets again ... |
