Travel Technology - Can airport X-rays ruin LCD screens?

I travel a bit, and noticed that within the last 3 weeks both the screen on my notebook and on my treo began displaying lines.
I have 3 horizontal lines on my treo screen and one vertical line on my notebook lcd. Neither have been dropped or exposed to anything other than the airport x- rays in the past month. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Not a chance that X-rays caused it. Sorry . . . most likely wear and tear or simply outright defective.

I was just wondering if others have experienced this.
They are both relatively new and developed the problem within the past few weeks.
I usually fly out of SFO and EWR, maybe they are testing some new x-ray units?
Who knows...

If they're using X-ray equipment that generates enough power to damage LCD displays, you'd likely be in hospital right now.
There are other possibilities that have nothing to do with X-rays that are much more likely . . . static electricity for example, especially this time of year.

No, the airport Xray and your troubles are not related.
Wear and tear or as PorkRind suggested, static electricity.

If the lines are in the same location every time, it is probably bad memory in the video adapter. Bits that are stuck off (so they never turn on). Not caused by x-rays (except at lethal power levels) but easily caused by static electricity. Petting a cat under the right conditions can do it, for example. Some old TVs have a degauss circuit that has a very high flux field, and that could do it. Putting the device on top of such an old TV and turning it on could do it, for example. Several orders of magnitude more damaging than x-rays. Have you been staying at old motels?
