My Digital out has stuck on always on. Headphones work fine. I get sound through them and other external speakers. But when unplugging the red light inside comes on and digital out is activated. No internal speakers.
So, I've read the apple support sites and I find that apparently there is a mechanical switch inside.
Have seen 4 solutions:
1 - send it back to apple for repairs. Mine is out of warranty and no applecare.
2 - take a thin prong and stick inside. Mechanical switch is on the left side (keyboard facing up) and is stuck. Fiddle till you get it unstuck. Risk is that you'll scratch the inside and have to revert to option one.
3 - take electronic cleaning fluid and spray the inside. Insert and pull out headphones repeatedly until unstuck.
4 - reinstall os x.
So, what spray fluid is that? WD40?
