Passages - Maylasia Air

Can anyone tell me if they have flown this airline and if so the experience they had. Also, IF you know, could you please tell me about 1st class. EX: rows, seats, food, on the 747's out of LAX.

Hey, thanks so much for responding, I feel a bit better about using them. I would however like to know if anyone has flown in their 747's from LAX to Bangkok in 1st class? Do the seats recline sufficient to sleep and about how wide are they?

They advertise for F on their 747s, "guests enjoy 'Easy Sleeper' seats reclining a full 160º with 3-way extendible leg rests and a pitch of at least 60 inches." No indciation of sleep width, but I'd have to think you would be relatively comfortable. Good luck.

Air Maylasia is the odd duckling of the asian air carriers being that its home is so close to the highest rated airline: Singapore Air. They have extensive routes for being a smaller country.

I have flown them many times and although they will not match SQ, Thai or CX for services levels, they are on time (almost always) and have attentive staff. I have only flown F intra-asia, but from my experience its about as good as what UA calls Int. C 'now'. The food most likely is different on trans-pacs then within asia. I am mostly happy they got me where I was going on time, rested and with all bags intact!

I flew Malaysia Air last year from Newark NJ to Thailand & back from Bali & had no complaints;I found them better than Thai,equal to CP,& not as good as Singapore Air.Sorry-no knowledge of First class!:p

My wife and I plus one other couple flew Malaysian in first class in April & May of this year. Routing Los Angeles, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and return Bali, Kuala Lumpur, Los Angeles. First rate service, enough leg room with seats fully reclined to have a dance in the first class cabin, seats recline 160 degrees (like a lazyboy) good wine list and food served buffet style on a cart. Overall not a nice as Singpore but miles ahead of any USA carrier.
