Hilton HHonors - No HHonors points/night credits/airline miles for third party bookings
According to the Hilton HHonors T&Cs there are no stay credits, no points and no airline miles being credited if one books with a third party website (e.g. Expedia).
In reality, most hotels give you the above-mentioned benefits regardless of the booking source.
For people who do a mattres run, it might be important to avoid hotels which do not give stay credits if the reservation is done with a 3rd party website.
Therefore, let's create a list with those hotels who do not give you night credits on 3rd party bookings. Please always report hotel name, date of stay and booking source:
Germany
Hilton Mainz - 2008/01/25 - Hotels.com
Switzerland
Hilton Zurich Airport - 2007/12/21 - Hotels.com
USA
Hilton Las Vegas - Travelocity.com

Why do we need a list? You don't get credit for 3rd party bookings, PERIOD. Hilton HHonors T&C have been very clear about this since 2002 (IIRC).
I don't understand how this is beneficial since everyone knows they must book an eligible rate, via phone with a Hilton rep or Hiltons internet site.
Is there something I'm missing or not understanding?
Obviously you do missing something: There is theory (e.g. the HHonors T&Cs) and there is a code of practice (e.g. how it most of the time works with HHonors).
I got from all but two hotels (the two in my list) points, night credits and airline miles... If you cannot benefit from this list, fine. Simply don't use it.
PS: The fact that Expedia bookings were honored in practise was THE big plus of the HHonors program for me. Should this benefit dilute, I see nothing holding me with HHonors.

The code of practice is that most of the time third party bookings get points? wow, thats completely different from what i've heard, seen, and experienced.

I haven't gotten any credits when staying at the LV Hilton, when booked on another online site. (I think it was Travelocity). I have gotten some points, or at least stay credit when booking on Hotwire for Milan.

What theory? the information has been well documented here on the Hilton forum that you will not receive benefits. THIS INFORMATION IS NOT NEW.
Now, I must add. Is your company booking this via expedia's corporate travel or are you booking these on your own via expedia?

Thanks freeloader, that is the point im trying to make.
If Didi started a thread about properties, that grant benefits when you dont book on hilton.com, that would be an entirely different story.

I am booking on Expedia.com and on Hotels.com and the like. And as I said, I got with each and every such stay but in Zurich and Mainz
- night credits
- HHonors points
- airline miles
And I got for each and every night without exception my Diamond benefits.

I think "Cheap Elite" is right, a list of hotels that DO allow credit when booking by a 3rd party is helpful, as the defacto standard is credit is NOT given.

If a list of the hotels that DO allow credit/benifits appears here in a public forum, I am sure that very soon they will not be ...

You should not have received stay credits or benefits, but you did, great for you, but I say this is a fluke. It appears that those two hotels need to be brought up to speed on Hilton Honors T&C and benefits. They are doing a disservice to all those who booked (those two hotels) thru the proper channels to earn points/stay credit.:td::td:
As for the two property's that denied benefits, good for them.^^
With all due respect, I don't think this thread holds any value and I would REALLY HATE for someone, new to the Hilton Honors program and/or FlyerTalk, to read this thread, think they should receive credit, then book a room using a third party/opaque booking engine. Giving bad information is not in the spirit of FT.
Endorsing this would not be a good thing.

Just because someone got points/stay credit/ etc for 3rd party booking one night does not guarantee it will happen always. Hilton (and other companies) constant close loop holes etc and since it is in the T&Cs you book the HOPE you will get points but should be prepared that nothing may come of it.
Peace!

I agree with Cheap Elite that this thread is unecessary, and as another poster mentioned, even if it was a list of hotels that did give credit, they are going contrary to the T&C of HHonors, and either they would soon be corrected, or one may be lulled into a false sense of security that they would get points only to perhaps not get them, and be screwed.
If one gets them, so much the better for you and you can report it on the individual hotel thread --which should be viewed by those considering a particular property.
A separate thread of those that do/don't award such points is unecessary and as I have noted above, may prove erroneous for others at a later date.
Better to lock this thread and this idea.

it's a slippery slope, publicly offering to post a listing of hotels that give you more than the T+C allows. Regardless of the moral stance anyone is taking, this type of thread is not appropriate for FT Hilton forum so I am closing it.
thanks for your cooperation
