My BB 7230 is now 3 years old and the battery isn't holding the charge the way it once did. I've checked the obvious thinks like making sure that my backlight is actually turning off - it is. It does show as fully charged when I'd finished with the recharging process.

I think the battery needs to be replaced, but the thing is 3 years old. Should I go ahead and buy a new battery for about $45 or is this a good excuse to treat myself to a new model? How long does a BB last?

If your current BB works for you then you can get a generic battery for less than $20.

Check to see if Bluetooth is running or not. That will decrease the battery runtime as well. At least until you get a new battery.

Clever of you. This made me remember that the problem started at about the same time I downloaded Google Maps. I checked and I think that I had the Bluetooth GPS left on. I've carefully exited Google Maps gracefully, and I'll if that solves the problem

FYI - I fully charged (confirmed status of 100%) less than 24 hours ago, and I'm already down to 45%.
