Last Friday I started getting a tingling feeling in my throat, by Saturday and especially Sunday I was burning up with fever, couldn't sleep and trying desparately to medicate myself in order to be able to fly to Aruba on Tuesday.

Well, its Monday and I still feel like crap. And any way I look at it this trip will be a disaster.

- if I go I won't enjoy it because who knows how I'll feel... sniffling on the beach isn't exactly my idea of a vacation.

- if I don't go I'll loose a couple of hundred dollars in non-refundable hotel and other reservations. Not to mention a perfectly wasted award flight.

This whole thing is quite sad as its like the third time in two months that I've caught a cold. I've never been so sick in my life before.

This also makes me wonder what do flight attendants do when they're feeling under the weather?

They do the service while listening to an ipod. ;)

- "non-refundable hotel and other" reservations do not always translate into "not-changeable".
I'd call to plead the case with a manager.
They would probably appreciate you not showing up coughing germs all around ;)

- JetBlue award - do they not permit changes?

- to avoid getting sick in the future, consider some or all of the following preventive measures (worked for me :D):

~ move to a warmer climate (AZ, CA, FL, HI, NV etc)
~ determine & eliminate sources of stress and/or allergies
(job? roommate? relatives? certain foods? carpet? books?)
~ eat healthier foods, more produce/fruit/veggies,
consider switching to organic varieties of meats/dairy
~ Vitamin C & other supplements
~ exercise

:-: Hope you feel better soon :-:

Airborne! Plenty of airborne and water. I've got the immune system of an Ox and rarely get sick. When I start to feel sick I pop in some airborne and keep up with it.

Ah, that sucks Jersey. I know how much you looked forward to this trip. You're not the only one sick...I've been sick for 3 days already and just slowly getting better now. It's definitely going around, and I am in FL now! Hoping to be 100% to fly up to NY on Friday.

Your TB ticket is definitely not a lost cause - you can change it to another date for $50, and you never know - try calling and maybe you will get a very kind, understanding supervisor who will waive the fee altogether. Just tell them how loyal you are to the company, and you're sick like a dog.

Also, the hotel...definitely take the recommendations above and contact the manager. To be fair, do NOT ask for a refund - beg for a credit to use at only that property. It's a win-win that way.

Let us know what happens, and do get better soon!
